Description

This role leads and grows the company's portfolio of federal and Department of Defense energy and power systems technology, and oversees strategic facilities and the full lifecycle of new high-stakes programs.

The job combines technical program management with business development, finding and winning new work that extends current power generation, distribution, and storage.

You will be the main contact for government agencies and will use your existing security clearance to grow classified and advanced technology work.

You will help build partnerships with universities and with technology, business, and external partners to produce new power systems and integrated system solutions.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team that takes technologies from concept to products or services for internal and external clients.

Responsibilities

  • Set the strategy for growing the defense portfolio and find new advanced power systems markets.
  • Manage advanced energy programs from start to finish, including specialized research facilities and the technical delivery of multidisciplinary projects.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of government and defense opportunities that keeps high-impact power and energy work flowing.
  • Serve as the main contact for classified and high-security government collaborations, such as those with Rome Labs, keeping relationships strong and meeting all security protocols.
  • Work across the company's business units to fold advanced power technologies into long-term strategy and multi-generational technology roadmaps.
  • Oversee facilities and resources so programs finish on schedule, within scope, and fully aligned with security requirements.
  • Give technical leadership in power systems and integrated systems, developing solutions that improve performance, efficiency, security, and reliability.
  • Set the technical strategy for integrated power systems in data centers and build the technology and product roadmaps, working with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead early-stage technology work with high disruption potential and take those technologies from first concept to a successful product launch.
  • Coordinate across the company on disruptive technologies and market trends, applying a clear understanding of power system challenges, the evolution of energy systems, and competitors.
  • Build and shape a pipeline of government-funded projects that creates a portfolio of new power systems and systems integration technologies for the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of professional experience in technical program management, systems engineering, advanced technology development, or defense engineering.
  • 5+ years leading complex, multidisciplinary technical programs from concept through execution or product transition.
  • 5+ years working with U.S. government customers such as DOD, DOE, DARPA, ARPA-E, service labs, or other federal agencies.
  • 3+ years in business development, capture management, or shaping government-funded R&D opportunities.
  • 5+ years managing programs in power systems, power generation, power electronics, energy storage, power system materials, cyber security, or integrated energy systems.
  • Desired: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with a record of leading multidisciplinary programs.
  • Desired: Industry experience in power systems engineering, electric machines, or power electronic systems.
  • Desired: Comfort making confident decisions when problems or solutions are not well defined.
  • Desired: Proven ability to work effectively in a matrixed team.
  • Desired: Familiarity with several GE businesses and a record of using cross-business networks to get results.
  • Desired: Experience with the company products and systems in the Power, Wind, and Electrification businesses.
  • Desired: A track record of managing risk and uncertainty for yourself and your team in a shifting priority environment.
  • Desired: Strong technical knowledge across a wide range of technology domains.
  • Desired: Skill in influence, facilitation, and negotiation, with a solution-focused approach that does not stop at team boundaries.
  • Desired: A record of turning an innovative idea into a funded, developed program.
  • Active U.S. security clearance required at time of hire.
  • Access to U.S. export-controlled information is required. If applicable, final offers depend on obtaining U.S. Government authorization for that access.
