Description

The company's GM OneOps platform is meant to be the shared operating platform for manufacturing, giving plants one connected, role-based view and one standard way of working. This internship supports the platform's development, rollout, daily use and adoption across the assigned North America sector (GMNA).

The Manufacturing Operations Digitalization Team sits within Manufacturing Excellence and digitalizes manufacturing operations worldwide. It works with IT and Manufacturing Engineering on digitalization strategy for plants, and with plant teams to define requirements and deploy platform modules as they are built.

You will work as a sector-level lead who turns the platform strategy into day-to-day execution at individual plants, covering planning, plant engagement, issue resolution and consistent deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Help write system of record requirements for platform modules that will be deployed at manufacturing sites.
  • Lead the full rollout of the platform across the sector's plants, owning the plan, readiness checks, execution and adoption.
  • Standardize plant processes, role-based workflows and operating practices so they match the platform model.
  • Work with plant leaders, operations, manufacturing engineering and IT to carry out implementation tasks and clear blockers.
  • Build and maintain sector deployment plans covering milestones, cutover readiness, issue tracking, risk management and escalation routes.
  • Track adoption and plant performance after go-live, find gaps and push corrective actions until the deployment is stable and mature.
  • Keep communication consistent across the sector's plants and keep work aligned with GMNA priorities, standards and rollout order.
  • Record lessons learned and best practices to make future plant rollouts faster, more repeatable and easier for users.
  • Prepare updates for leadership on deployment status, risks, dependencies and sector readiness.

Requirements

  • You are pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Your expected graduation date falls between December 2027 and June 2030.
  • You can work full time, 40 hours per week, during the summer.
  • You are willing to work in a plant environment and travel to manufacturing facilities when needed.
  • Preferred: You have shown you can drive execution in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Preferred: You have strong project, stakeholder and change-management skills.
  • Preferred: You communicate well with plant leaders, technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Preferred: You collaborate effectively with remote teams.
  • Preferred: You have used analytics to track adoption, spot repeat issues and set priorities for corrective action.
  • Preferred: You have experience with manufacturing systems deployment, plant digital transformation or enterprise operating system implementation.

Conditions

The role is onsite, with five days a week at the Warren Technical Center, plus travel to manufacturing facilities as needed.

Start dates are May 24, 2027 and June 14, 2027.
