Description

The vehicle human interface design studio is hiring an experienced designer to shape in-vehicle digital experiences. You will work with design, software, engineering, and product partners to build intuitive, accessible, and visually strong system-level software across the full vehicle lineup. The work calls for balancing creativity, usability, and technical depth in products that match the brand and shape how customers use the vehicles and their connected digital services.

You will be an individual contributor on the Connected Apps Design team, leading complex end-to-end experiences that run across the vehicle and mobile touchpoints. The team covers charging, media, audio, passenger entertainment, and phone-based productivity for the whole portfolio. You may not own mobile design delivery, but you are expected to think across channels and guide design decisions so the experiences fit together.

You will work largely on your own, turning unclear problems into clear interaction models, scalable UI solutions, and well-reasoned additions to the design systems. You will work with product, engineering, and research to set direction, test design choices, and raise the quality of the work through craft, clear reasoning, and iterative delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, end-to-end interaction design across vehicle and mobile touchpoints
  • Weigh user needs, technical limits, and business goals when solving hard design problems
  • Produce interaction designs that are ready for production and follow the established design systems and guidelines
  • Make design deliverables such as sketches, wireframes, mockups, animations, and prototypes that show design intent clearly
  • Hand production specifications and assets to software engineering teams
  • Present your work to peers, partners, and leadership
  • Work closely with product teams and engineers so the interface is built faithfully as part of the full experience
  • Take part in design critiques and help make well-informed design decisions
  • Work with other designers and cross-functional partners to deliver a strong user experience across the company's products and platforms

Requirements

  • At least 3+ years designing digital interfaces for web, mobile, or in-vehicle platforms
  • Formal training or a degree in interface design, visual design, or a closely related field
  • A strong portfolio showing UX expertise, interaction design, creativity, and depth of thinking
  • Proven experience taking digital products to market
  • Restraint and intention in design decisions
  • Working proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent problem-solving, organization, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred: prototyping experience, including software and/or hardware development
  • Preferred: experience producing high-quality renders and animations
  • Preferred: ability to find and apply technology that serves design goals
  • Preferred: deep understanding of the competitive landscape in digital and automotive experiences
