Backend Engineer, Video Streaming

Description

This role is on the streaming team and covers video streaming software across embedded and web delivery.

The system has many interlocking parts, so the work requires understanding it in depth.

Responsibilities

• Lead the streaming team's embedded work.
• Lead code reviews, debugging and bug fixes.
• Evaluate and test new development boards.
• Contribute regularly to the existing codebase so new features can ship over the air often.
• Work with senior leadership to define specifications for future products.

Requirements

• Ability and motivation to learn the architecture and details of a complex, interdependent system from top to bottom.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate on tight schedules.
• Experience in video streaming, including streaming protocols such as HLS, DASH and WebRTC.
• Strong C or C++ development experience, including multi-threaded code and synchronization primitives.
• Knowledge of audio, video and caption format standards such as AVC, HEVC, AAC, Dolby Atmos and WebVTT, plus their media file formats such as ISO base media file format, CMAF, fMP4 and MPEG-2 TS.
• BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering or an equivalent field, with 3-5 years of experience.
• A recognised profile in the industry, such as contributions to standards bodies, industry forums or W3C/HTML5 work.
• Knowledge of the MSE and EME technology stacks for web video delivery.
• Experience working with large cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Linux servers, Linux device drivers, Linux kernel patches, secure operating systems and security-focused programming.
