The company works in AI, cloud, cyber and software development, and this principal-level role sits within its software engineering team.

The posting describes a remote role that is not tied to any single location.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of developers in designing and building software that solves complex user problems.
• Ship new features and make core services more reliable, including the main read and write paths for customer intake, application screening and information dissemination.
• Find major bottlenecks and flaws in business logic, and fix them before they cause harm.
• Own core product problems from start to finish. Build solutions you can stand behind, and show with data that they work at scale.
• Work across the full stack yourself, without waiting on other engineers or teams.
• Explain technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Work in a collaborative setting where people openly discuss and challenge ideas.

Requirements

• Have 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Show strength in design, problem solving and building solutions.
• Be expert in at least one modern language such as Java or Python, and use its full range of constructs fluently on hard problems.
• Show a record of delivering high-impact software in professional work.
• Design and build distributed multi-tier systems, including storage, caching and application layers, and understand how they fail.
• Have hands-on experience with microservices, especially high-throughput, low-latency systems.
• Have led system transformations, such as strangler pattern moves from monoliths to microservices.
• Have run multi-phase migrations using dark reads, dark writes, light reads and light writes.
• Be expert in cloud engineering, especially high-scale asynchronous systems and secure service integration.
• Know design patterns, reliability and scaling principles well.
• Have strong architecture and system design skills.
• Explain complex technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
• Have mentored engineers, led technical teams or worked as a tech lead.
• Influence technical direction and champion sound engineering practice.
• Keep learning new technologies, frameworks and methods, and adapt as they change.
• Use AI and automation tools to raise your productivity and results.
• Be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to work in unfamiliar problem areas.
• Accomplishment and impact count for more than years of experience, so show the value you created, the problems you solved and how you have grown.
• No certifications are required.

Conditions

The role is remote, and you can work from any location.

It is a regular position with 40 scheduled hours per week.

Travel is less than 10% of the time.

You must currently hold a clearance at the level listed as Other, and you do not need to be able to obtain one. A public trust or other clearance listed as Other is required.

US citizenship is not required.

Benefits

• The likely salary range is $187,000 to $253,000. Pay depends on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements, so it is not guaranteed and may fall outside this range.
