Description

The company is a global media and entertainment business with three segments: Studios, Direct-to-Consumer, and TV Media. Its portfolio includes CNN, Paramount, HBO, CBS, TNT Sports, Nickelodeon and many other brands.

CNN Marketing is looking for a VP, Marketing Planning & Operations to run cross-functional planning and deliver full marketing programs. This role reports directly to the Head of Marketing and connects every marketing vertical into one operating model, from planning through execution.

The role also drives internal efficiency: standardizing workflows, improving planning and campaign documentation and knowledge sharing, and pushing adoption of automation and AI tools across the marketing organization.

As part of the marketing leadership team, you will work with brand and growth leads to make marketing effective, so that priorities and campaigns deliver measurable business results with strong execution.

Responsibilities

  • Track intake, timing, dependencies and issues for all tiered initiatives tied to measurable business goals, and set data-backed prioritization criteria with marketing and content leads.
  • Act as the main link between marketing verticals so campaigns stay on strategy and on schedule, with coordination from planning through optimization.
  • Oversee planning structure so every vertical stays in sync from brief to post-mortem, and set standard campaign timelines and milestones.
  • Set up and run governance forums, including campaign readiness reviews and weekly orchestration meetings, to align teams and reduce risk.
  • Create clear, streamlined approval steps across all campaign stages to speed decisions and remove bottlenecks.
  • Make sure every asset and deliverable passes quality checks before launch, and that delivery is accurate and on time.
  • Run standard post-campaign reviews that capture process lessons and feed them into future planning.
  • Build and grow the Marketing Planning and Operations function, defining existing and new roles, managing the team day to day, mentoring and creating career paths.
  • Regularly assess team capacity across planning and integrated execution, and work with the Head of Marketing and Marketing Leads to address known gaps and shifting priorities.
  • Define and roll out modern, agile ways of working across marketing, breaking down silos so teams work toward shared goals and beat business KPIs.
  • Set operational KPIs and performance benchmarks, and hold teams to them.
  • Create and scale unified templates for strategic briefs, campaign frameworks, marketing roadmaps and post-mortems, so outputs are consistent, clear and executive-ready.
  • Lead the evaluation, onboarding and adoption of AI-driven operational tools, and use them to automate repetitive work, improve resource management and scale planning and execution.
  • Build one centralized planning and campaign management approach and toolset, with a unified marketing repository and streamlined creative and media workflows, so the whole team works from one transparent source of truth.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive marketing leadership in major media, entertainment, streaming or digital consumer brands.
  • Hands-on experience running paid media and/or owned and operated marketing channels.
  • Proven record of managing complex, high-profile campaigns and building long-range marketing calendars or promotional roadmaps.
  • Ability to rank team workload by known or potential contribution to business objectives.
  • Experience leading operational change in complex, matrixed organizations, including redesigning workflows, scaling marketing structures and rolling out enterprise tools.
  • Experience working across integrated marketing ecosystems that include brand, media, digital, social and content production.
  • Strong interest in organizational design and internal efficiency, with a clear view of how modern marketing teams should collaborate, document strategy and use technology.
  • Practical knowledge of how generative AI, automation and project management tools can improve marketing workflows.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to guide teams through change, standardizing processes without limiting strategic or creative output.
  • Able to work at scale in a global, matrixed organization, balancing strategic vision with operational rigor and execution discipline.
  • Strong grasp of marketing investment, budget management and ROI measurement to guide prioritization and decisions.

Conditions

Hiring salary range is $161,070.00 to $299,130.00 per year.
