Description

The company makes a cloud platform that lets distributed teams work together on electronics projects, covering design through manufacturing. It links people, processes and data so teams move faster, make fewer errors and ship complex hardware at scale.

The company is a global software business within the Renesas Group, headquartered in San Diego, California, and is speeding up electronics innovation.

The team is hiring a UX researcher to shape end-to-end experiences across the platform.

The role keeps product decisions tied to real users, tests ideas before they are built, and keeps findings searchable instead of scattered across chat threads and personal notes.

You will work with designers, PMs and engineers at every stage, from first framing a problem to checking results after launch.

This is a hands-on position with considerable independence. You build the research practice yourself rather than carrying out a plan written by someone else.

Responsibilities

  • Keep a steady rhythm of user contact so the team always has fresh input within a couple of weeks.
  • Run the participant pipeline end to end: recruiting, screening, scheduling, incentives and consent.
  • Run interviews, contextual inquiries, diary studies and surveys.
  • Test ideas, prototypes and live features through usability tests and concept tests.
  • Pick the method that fits each decision, including quick, informal studies when speed matters more than rigor.
  • Turn open questions from designers and PMs into research questions.
  • Report findings that say what to change and what the trade-offs are.
  • Build a searchable findings database tagged by product area, user segment and theme, and keep it useful for the whole team.
  • Link new findings to earlier ones so patterns show up over time.
  • Track which insights led to which decisions and revisit assumptions that did not hold up.
  • Coach designers and PMs to run solid lightweight studies on their own.
  • Share results as short readouts, highlight reels and workshops.
  • Challenge decisions made on opinion when evidence exists or is cheap to gather.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in UX or product research, or a closely related role with substantial hands-on research work.
  • Strong qualitative methods, plus enough quantitative skill to design a survey and interpret product analytics.
  • Experience testing prototypes at different fidelities and knowing what each stage can and cannot tell you.
  • Communicate clearly enough to win over a skeptical stakeholder within five minutes.
  • Work well with ambiguity and scope research to fit real timelines.
  • Familiarity with research operations tools such as Dovetail, Condens, Maze, UserTesting or similar.
  • English at a professional level.
  • Experience setting up an insights repository from scratch.
  • Background in engineering, PCB design or another complex domain.
  • Basic familiarity with Figma and design workflows.

Benefits

  • A competitive benefits package alongside salary. Details are provided during the hiring process.
