Unified Communications Engineer - TS/SCI w/Poly

Description

The team that runs the company's enterprise collaboration and communications environment is adding an engineer, and strong Skype for Business experience is the main fit point.

You will run, build, fix, and improve that environment while picking up new technologies that connect systems that used to operate separately. Platforms in scope include Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Pexip, Cisco Jabber, VTC systems, voice services, conferencing platforms, and the links between them.

Engineers can build deep expertise in one area while moving into the 28 IT engineering disciplines next to it.

This is a regular position in IT Infrastructure and Operations. You must currently hold a Top Secret SCI clearance with a polygraph and be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI. No Public Trust or other clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Build, run, and support enterprise unified communications platforms, including Skype for Business and the voice, video, messaging, conferencing, and collaboration services around it.
• Design and maintain interoperability so separate communications platforms work together across the enterprise.
• Learn new UC technologies, such as Pexip linking Microsoft Teams with existing video and collaboration systems, and put them into service.
• Engineer connections among voice, video, and messaging platforms, including Cisco Jabber, VTC systems, enterprise phones, and instant messaging.
• Diagnose difficult problems across signaling, media, authentication, networking, conferencing, endpoints, applications, and integrations.
• Work with networking, security, infrastructure, endpoint, cloud, applications, and service management engineers to fix issues and deliver new capabilities.
• Find ways to make the UC environment more reliable, interoperable, easier to use, more automated, and more capable.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience supporting or engineering Skype for Business or a comparable enterprise UC platform.
• Working knowledge of unified communications across voice, video, instant messaging, presence, conferencing, and collaboration.
• Understanding of how communications platforms connect with networks, identity, authentication, endpoints, and infrastructure.
• Strong troubleshooting and analysis skills across several technology layers.
• Skills in communication, complex systems design, and emerging technologies.
• A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science, or 4 years of related experience.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• A CompTIA Security+ CE certification, as 8570 compliance requires a Security+ certification.
• US citizenship is required.
• Willingness and ability to learn new communications platforms and integration technologies.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical problems, and perform well in a busy engineering environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Conditions

Onsite work in Annapolis Junction, MD, USA, scheduled at 40 hours per week.

Travel is required for less than 10% of the time.

The likely salary range is $119,000 - $161,000. This is not a guarantee. Pay depends on experience, geographic location, and possibly contract terms, and may fall outside this range.
