The company is a Fortune 500 infrastructure and professional services firm with over 50,000 staff and $16.1 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Support project managers, deputy project managers and discipline leads on technical coordination, scope, schedule and delivery.
  • Take part in design reviews and quality control to confirm compliance with client standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate track design with rail systems such as traction power, overhead contact systems and signaling.
  • Support project teams through design development and, where applicable, construction, inspection and field coordination.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) plus 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred: 5 years of design experience.
  • Preferred: Strong track alignment design skills and CADD skills in both MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Preferred: PE license in Illinois, or the ability to obtain one within 2 years.
  • Preferred: Experience with MicroStation ORD and/or Bentley InRoads, OpenRoads or OpenRail.
  • Preferred: Advanced proficiency in MicroStation ORD and/or Bentley InRoads, OpenRoads or OpenRail.
  • Preferred: Experience on CTA, Metra, Amtrak, BNSF and UPRR projects.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of design requirements for rail systems such as traction power, catenary and signals.
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of track structure design principles and special trackwork details.
  • Preferred: Experience designing and testing ballast-less track forms.
  • Preferred: Experience in track construction, maintenance or inspection.

Conditions
