The company is a joint venture between the company (67%) and Thales (33%), part of the company's space division. It is a global reference for satellite solutions and services, with over 3,500 staff in Europe and elsewhere in the world.

It runs an international network of space centres and teleports and works in geoinformation services, satellite systems and operations, and satellite communications.

The headquarters in Rome is hiring a software engineer with 3, 5 years of hands-on experience designing, building and testing software, services and front-end applications for ground segment systems.

The role suits a strong full-stack developer with cloud-native experience and experience building enterprise applications on microservices architectures for multiple devices and platforms.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team and with internal and external stakeholders on projects run with Agile/SCRUM.

Recruitment starts with a review of applications. Shortlisted candidates have an interview with HR about their motivation and personal skills, then a deeper technical interview with the business team. Every candidate receives feedback at the end, whatever the outcome.

Responsibilities

• Build and unit test software and end-to-end applications with current technologies in public and hybrid clouds.
• Design and introduce automated DevSecOps pipelines.
• Help write and maintain technical project documents: requirements documents, operations concept documents, operations engineering plans, user manuals and administration manuals.
• Join project reviews and technical meetings when needed.

Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, aerospace engineering or information engineering.
• 3, 5 years of hands-on software development, including microservices-based applications.
• A solid grasp of software design principles and proven experience designing microservices applications.
• Java and Python.
• Front-end skills in Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, Flask and Liferay.
• Back-end skills in Spring Boot, API Gateway and message queues such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• An understanding of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and CaaS.
• Working knowledge of container orchestration with Kubernetes and OpenShift.
• Linux and Linux scripting.
• Knowledge of OWASP and CWE/SANS security coding standards.
• Experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel and CrewAI, and with integrating generative AI components into microservices, including guardrails, output validation and error handling in asynchronous workflows.
• Knowledge of quality standards and the provisions that apply to them.
• Clear written and spoken English at a high level.
• The ability to work well in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, and familiarity with Agile/SCRUM.
• Further skills (optional): relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Further skills (optional): non-relational databases and analytics such as MongoDB and Elastic.
• Further skills (optional): configuration management with Git, GitLab and similar tools.
• Further skills (optional): software security mechanisms such as encryption and digital signatures.
• Further skills (optional): development across several technology stacks.
• Further skills (optional): writing automation code for applications in the cloud.
• Further skills (optional): experience with at least one commercial public cloud such as AWS, Google Cloud or Azure.
• Further skills (optional): basic networking knowledge of TCP/IP, IP addresses, HTTP and DNS.

Hybrid working, based at the Rome headquarters at Via Tiburtina 965.

Permanent contract as an employee.

The collective labor agreement is the CCNL for the private metalworking industry and plant installation sector.

Seniority level: expert.

Total base pay range: 000€ to 46,000€.

The company may set the job grade and pay on objective criteria, in line with the seniority of the chosen candidate and the role, following fairness, transparency and equal opportunity law.
