Description

Mid-century American engineers put a man on the moon in eight years and designed and built planes and submarines from scratch in under 3 years.

The engineers who designed those systems are retiring, and their hard-won knowledge and hands-on problem solving go with them.

The company quickly develops and makes the critical components and subsystems that aircraft, military vehicles and core infrastructure depend on, and is modernizing aging supply chains to rebuild that capability.

This is a temporary Technical Writer role on the Business Operations team, collecting, updating and organizing technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and sort Technical Data Packages from government and commercial suppliers.
  • Produce CAD models and drawings from source material and engineering requirements.
  • Partner with off-site factories to sort and digitize older paper and file records.
  • Draft, proofread and submit proposals for customers in many formats and for different product types.

Requirements

  • You check your own work carefully and catch small errors before they spread.
  • You stay accurate through high volumes of repetitive, structured tasks and a daily intake list.
  • You are skilled with Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint or OneDrive-style file management.
  • You can read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • You are a U.S. person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) so you can access ITAR-controlled technical data.
  • Preferred: an associate's or bachelor's degree, or coursework, in engineering technology, drafting, technical communication, library or information science, or a related field.
  • Preferred: experience at AS9100 or ISO 9001 aerospace and defense organizations.
  • Preferred: familiarity with Confluence or Jira, and basic spreadsheet automation.
  • Preferred: experience handling controlled documents (ITAR, CUI, proprietary data).

Conditions

Work onsite at the company's headquarters in El Segundo, CA for the full term.

The contract runs 3-6 months, with the opportunity for extensions.

Hourly pay is $28 - $38 USD.

The role uses ITAR-controlled information, so all applicants must be U.S. persons under ITAR: a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident (Green Card holder), or someone granted "protected person" status under 8 U.S.C 1324b(a)(3).

The company prohibits discrimination and harassment based on race, religion, national origin, disability, sex, age (40 years and over), and other status protected by state or federal law.
