Description

The company is an infrastructure consulting firm with more than 50,000 planners, engineers, designers, scientists and other specialists worldwide.

You will join a data centre team delivering hyperscale, colocation and enterprise facilities across Europe, working with the company's EU Centres of Excellence.

The role is hands-on and client-facing, with room to progress on high-profile projects for global clients.

The ideal person has a deep background in multi-disciplinary design management, ideally on hyperscale or colocation data centres and critical facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate design teams covering architecture, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, fire protection, ICT and BMS/EPMS.
  • Take projects through every stage, from site due diligence and campus planning to concept, schematic and detailed design, and construction documentation.
  • Keep design output high quality and on schedule, meeting client needs and project timelines.
  • Spot project risks early and propose practical, sometimes inventive, ways to deal with them.
  • Support Project Managers and Project Directors on commercial and contractual governance, keeping projects compliant and risks under control.
  • Present to clients and stakeholders, with timely, high-quality output.
  • Work with design teams and local and international delivery teams to secure localisation and permitting compliance.
  • Respond to client requests promptly.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in an engineering discipline: building, structural, mechanical, electrical or IT.
  • 7+ years in data centre design, project management or both.
  • A track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex data centre projects.
  • Solid knowledge of permitting, building systems, regulations and construction methods.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • The ability to manage several projects and meet tight deadlines in a changing environment.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Fluent in Italian and English.

Conditions

Based in Milan, with occasional travel to the company's offices across the UK, Ireland and Europe for project work.

Hybrid working with flexible options to help balance work and life.

Covered by the CCNL Commercio e Terziario.

Pay within the salary range depends on skills, relevant experience, expected autonomy and responsibility, and fit with the role.

Other benefits and wider compensation and welfare elements are discussed during recruitment.

The offer is open to all genders, ages and nationalities, and personal data is processed under GDPR.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with meal vouchers, a welfare programme, health insurance and a pension savings plan.
  • Well-being and mental health resources, gym memberships and an employee assistance programme.
  • A laptop and smartphone, plus business travel insurance.
  • Public transport allowance to help with the daily commute.
