Description

The company's Space Systems Sector is hiring a Systems Engineer at Level 2 for its Morrisville, NC site.

You will join a scrum team of software and systems engineers. The team sets the product vision, keeps the backlog in order, and makes sure features serve business goals.

You will work with cross-functional groups to set task priorities and help deliver high-quality software for missions. You will also use user feedback to refine the product roadmap as customer needs change.

Development follows Agile using the Atlassian tool suite.

You will support a program through its life-cycle milestones during Agile sprints, reporting to leads and the customer, and working with little oversight in a shifting environment that keeps growing.

Relocation assistance may be available. Travel is 10% of the time. Access to SCI is required before start.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or help develop features for satellite ground systems, reading CAMEO and MBSE models.
  • Join working groups, study customer needs and interfaces, and turn them into digital artifacts that software teams can build from.
  • Help lead or support verification planning, test requirements, and other core deliverables.
  • Cover systems engineering work across requirements and verification, interfaces, architecture and design, integration, test, and sell-off.
  • Take part in sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews, keeping work aligned with the product vision and mission goals.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for space-vehicle command and control, and work with other teams and unit-level subsystem engineers.
  • Give demos and briefings to customers and senior leadership.
  • Make sure capabilities, epics, and features integrate smoothly with ground satellite software.
  • Use Jira dashboards and Confluence knowledge bases from the Atlassian suite.
  • Help lead or support milestone preparation and Agile product increments.
  • Attend multiple working groups and control boards.
  • Responsibilities may be adjusted to fit the selected candidate's skills and experience.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of engineering experience, or a master's degree in a STEM field.
  • An active TS clearance when you apply and before your start date.
  • Experience building and reviewing behavioral and structural architecture diagrams with MBSE methods and tools, or equivalent.
  • Experience with No Magic Cameo, or an equivalent tool.
  • Experience with space-vehicle, command-and-control, mission management, mission data processing, or software subsystems.
  • Clear written and spoken communication, shown through requirements, test, and evaluation criteria.
  • Experience producing systems engineering artifacts for software work, such as use cases, interface control documents, class and sequence diagrams, database and schema design, and protocols like REST, HTTP, and RESP, or equivalent.
  • Experience on Agile programs and with Agile methods.
  • Preferred: TS/SCI clearance.
  • Preferred: experience with command and control, network management, flight dynamics, or orbit determination for space-vehicle software.
  • Preferred: experience with space-vehicle subsystems such as thermal, power, attitude control, propulsion, or communications.
  • Preferred: familiarity with cloud architectures such as Kubernetes, containers, and orchestrators.
  • Preferred: experience with mission-focused threads.
  • Preferred: experience across the software development lifecycle.
  • Preferred: experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Preferred: experience working with a geographically distributed team.
  • Preferred: experience with automated test and integration frameworks, including Playwright.
