Systems Engineer

Description

This full-time Systems Engineer role is a regular position with a minimum Secret clearance needed to start. The work supports the Detection area and centers on engineering analysis and assessing whether systems are ready, at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Corona. The team is a skilled development group and the company wants to hear from engineers looking for a challenging next step.

Responsibilities

• Understand, apply, and explain division-level processes and tools, such as MRDB and TSP, to support Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) assessments.
• Preferred, not required: familiarity with Navy radars, electronic warfare, and various combat systems.
• Bring together all failure data and use it to judge the readiness of a single system, several systems, or a system of systems.
• Build and write up reliability models for a single system or a system of systems, along with criteria for scoring failure events.
• Study Navy systems on your own and keep learning about them.
• Use readiness assessment tools, whether built for the Navy or commercial off-the-shelf (COTS).
• Learn and follow the established data editing process, covering data review, extraction, and loading.
• Travel of up to 10% within the continental US may be required.

Requirements

• Required: a relevant degree or equivalent US Navy work experience.
• Required: strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at different levels.
• Required: US citizenship, with the ability to obtain and keep a DoD Secret clearance.
• Desired: an active DoD SECRET security clearance.
• Desired: knowledge of probability theory and how it applies to RM&A.
• Desired: knowledge of Navy organization, structure, ship classes, and shipboard systems.

Conditions

Final salary depends on factors such as location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, prior relevant experience, specific skills, education, and certifications.

The proposed salary range is $63,800 - 127,500 USD.
