Software Engineer

Description

The company is hiring a Software Engineer for the Data Transport Product Support Sustainment Logistics Maintenance (DSLM) contract, based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The role is full time and requires an active Secret clearance at the start.

You will do sustainment and modification software engineering on mission and non-mission systems that support the Satellite Control Network (SCN). You will join the DSLM Software Team in every Agile ceremony, including daily Scrums, backlog sessions and retrospectives, and help the team keep improving how it works.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with team members, Product Owners and Scrum Masters so user stories match customer use cases
• Test and analyze software and the infrastructure it needs, including through demos, proofs of concept, performance tests and end-to-end tests, then coordinate those needs to meet mission goals
• Judge whether proposed solutions are operationally feasible by reviewing analysis, problem definitions, requirements and solution designs
• Write documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, unit tests and clean, maintainable, efficient code that shows how solutions work
• Review teammates' code and give constructive feedback
• Design system specifications, standards and programs, then build and install the solutions
• Study systems, data use and work processes, talk with users and investigate problem areas to find better policies and procedures
• Run or support site testing at locations around the world
• Lead release efforts and mentor junior team members

Requirements

• US citizen with a DoD Secret security clearance, or the ability to obtain and keep one
• A bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination
• Software development experience or education in C, C++ or Java, plus at least one scripting language such as Perl, Python, Bash or TCL
• Experience working in a Linux or Unix development environment
• Experience with Git version control
• Strong problem-solving skills with close attention to detail
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Experience leading releases and mentoring junior team members
• Desired: experience on DoD programs and working with government stakeholders; SCN experience is a plus
• Desired: RBC experience is highly preferred
• Desired: experience with GitLab, SharePoint, Fortify and JIRA
• Desired: writing custom simulations
• Desired: developing and debugging device handlers
• Desired: implementing testing tools and strategies
• Desired: Agile software development experience
• Desired: Agile certifications with a software development focus

Conditions

Travel of up to 10% of the time, local only

The salary range for this role is $82,100-$172,400. Final pay depends on location, the contract labor category and wage rates, prior experience, skills, education and certifications
