Description

The company is a global technology leader with more than 83,000 employees across five continents, including over 7,500 in the UK. It works across defence, space, aerospace and digital security.

Its ISR business in the UK is a main supplier of UAS, electronic warfare and radar equipment to the UK armed forces and exports these capabilities worldwide.

The company is hiring a Systems Engineer on a permanent basis to meet growing demand. You will work on projects that deliver next generation EW, radar or UAS solutions within the ISR business line.

You will carry out part of the engineering work needed to develop a solution or product and make sure the customer is satisfied with what is delivered. The role calls for knowledge or experience of the full systems engineering design lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Show that the solution meets the approved operational needs the customer has set out.
  • Capture and manage requirements in DOORS.

  • Write the specifications used to build the solution.
  • Write or review the engineering plans used to develop the solution.
  • Support and carry out IVVQ activities.
  • Run trade-off analysis, modelling and simulation.
  • Produce systems engineering and IVVQ documentation.
  • Work with a systems engineering team, a systems architect or a project design authority to design and formalise the solution.

Requirements

  • A bachelor degree (BEng or BSc) in a numerate, scientific or engineering subject, or higher education or equivalent training and experience.
  • Proven experience managing requirements with tools such as DOORS or Polarion.
  • Detailed working knowledge of the engineering lifecycle, from concept design and requirements capture through system and subsystem design, integration, test strategy, acceptance and design update.
  • Understanding of systems engineering, its processes and practices, and system lifecycles.
  • Ability to combine technologies, define how they should be integrated and verified, and do so in a structured way.
  • Ability to build collaborative ways of working with stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Understanding of systems thinking and how it applies to wider collaborative engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, with the ability to present complex technical problems clearly to different audiences.
  • Security clearance (SC) is required. Holding it already is advantageous. If you do not, you must obtain and maintain SC before you start.

Conditions

Based in Crawley with a hybrid working model.

Permanent position.

Many roles involve security restrictions. This role requires SC. Full SC generally requires 5 years of UK residence. In some cases, 3 years of UK residence over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
