The space systems sector is hiring Systems Engineers at Level 2 and Level 3 for its team in Redondo Beach, CA.
You will define, integrate and verify system-to-system interfaces across complex space architectures. You will own the technical baseline for external interfaces between payloads, spacecraft buses, ground segments and outside mission partners, so the system works end to end, performs as required and meets program requirements.
Day to day, you will work with systems engineering, hardware, software and customer teams to break down requirements, write interface control documents and resolve integration issues across the program life cycle.
Responsibilities
Own the technical definition and control of external interfaces for assigned subsystems and segments, covering space, ground and cross-segment work, and help manage the technical baseline with engineering design teams.
Write, maintain and baseline ICDs, interface requirement specifications and other configuration-managed documents.
Break system-level requirements into interface requirements and assign them to subsystems and components.
Lead or join interface working groups, design reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Keep interfaces current in the DOORS database and move documentation into Digital Transformation.
Run several engineering insertions at once and keep their maturity schedules in step.
Align mechanical, electrical, data, RF and software interface definitions so they stay consistent and traceable.
Carry out interface compatibility checks, margin analyses and trade studies to inform architecture and design choices.
Support integration and test planning for interface verification, including test configurations, procedures and success criteria.
Find and resolve interface problems during integration and test, triage anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
Keep interface designs and documents matched to changing requirements, configuration changes and customer constraints.
Help identify interface risks and plan how to reduce them.
Communicate technical information clearly to program leadership, customers and cross-functional teams.
Review RFCs for impacts and share them internally to build program responses.
This list is not exhaustive.
