Description

The role supports the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and centres on secure, scalable enterprise IT and cloud systems that shape how a major U.S. government agency works.

You will be a recognised technical leader who designs, assesses and guides enterprise and cloud architectures matched to business and mission goals.

The work centres on DNS, Azure, AWS, cloud migrations, on-premises infrastructure and Linux, and you will shape architectural decisions, modernise current environments and advise on new technology.

The job sits in the IT Infrastructure and Operations family.

The company is a global technology and professional services firm with 26,000 staff in more than 50 countries. It serves every major U.S. government agency and the defense and intelligence community, with work in AI, cloud, cyber and software development.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted solutions architecture expert and be known as an industry leader in your field.
  • Design solutions from business and technical requirements, compare options, weigh trade-offs and recommend the best architecture.
  • Track current and emerging technologies, tools and methods, and advise where to adopt, adapt or refine processes and standards.
  • Review existing system and business process architectures, then work with stakeholders on changes that improve performance, security and efficiency.
  • Make sure architecture teams deliver scalable, secure and effective system and cloud solutions that meet organisational goals and mission objectives.
  • Build, improve and maintain service design procedures and processes based on established frameworks and methods.
  • Give technical presentations, write test plans and produce analytical briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Gather and refine customer requirements, assess alternatives and recommend products and configurations across software, platform, network and cloud.
  • Plan and deploy DNS architectures built for scalability, reliability and security.
  • Set up and tune monitoring tools and alerts that catch performance and security problems early.
  • Connect on-premises and cloud solutions with other IT teams so they fit the wider enterprise environment.
  • Support cloud migrations by assessing, planning and carrying out application and infrastructure moves to Azure and AWS.
  • Report on cost, schedule, risk and quality to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced staff, and lead a team or specific tasks when asked.

Requirements

  • Experience in networking, routers, system administration and systems design.
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • A BA/BS and 20+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Active Top Secret or Q-level clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Deep DNS architecture expertise, with the ability to explain DNS concepts clearly to technical teams.
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Cloud migration expertise, including migration strategies and patterns such as rehost, replatform and refactor, and experience supporting or leading workload migrations to Azure and/or AWS.
  • Solid understanding of on-premises infrastructure: VDI, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), VMware technologies including load balancing concepts and integrations, and Microsoft 365 / Office 365 (O365) services with their on-prem and cloud integrations.
  • Linux experience, including system administration, troubleshooting, integration in mixed Windows/Linux environments and support for Linux workloads on-prem and in the cloud.
  • Familiarity with DNS and network services platforms such as Infoblox or similar.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Other Requirements: a MA/MS in a related field; experience working with the Department of Energy (DOE); current or previous Q clearance; experience with DISA STIGs and related compliance frameworks; relevant cloud certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
