Systems Administrator (Linux / RHEL)

Description

This hands-on role secures and maintains enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Unix servers and appliances so they meet DoW cyber standards before CORA inspections.

The job sits in IT Infrastructure and Operations. You must currently hold a Secret clearance and be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI. No Public Trust clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Fix findings from ACAS/Tenable reports and OpenSCAP scans by patching systems, changing configurations and hardening services on RHEL 8 and 9.
• Apply Red Hat Enterprise Linux DISA STIGs, Cyber Tasking Orders and IAVM notices by hand, and keep systems compliant with them.
• Set up, troubleshoot and enforce SELinux in enforcing mode.
• Run central identity, PAM, SSSD and DoW PKI/CAC authentication for user and admin access.
• Configure and maintain host firewalls (firewalled/iptables) and auditd logging to meet DoW audit requirements.
• Push security errata and updates to air-gapped or restricted networks using YUM/DNF, Red Hat Satellite or local repositories.
• Write and run Bash and Ansible playbooks that automate STIG hardening, configuration audits and compliance checks.
• Write, put in place and document mitigation strategies and POA&Ms for Linux vulnerabilities that cannot be fixed right away.
• Gather evidence, OpenSCAP reports and configuration records for CORA inspection teams.

Requirements

• Hands-on Linux administration: command line work, user management and package patching.
• Hands-on experience applying DISA STIGs to RHEL systems with SCAP Compliance Checker (SCC) or OpenSCAP.
• Experience reviewing ACAS/Tenable vulnerability reports and carrying out Linux remediation steps.
• Working knowledge of PKI certificate installation and PAM/SSSD authentication integration.
• Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Linux management and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience.
• Either a bachelor's degree in a related discipline or 3+ years of hands-on experience administering and hardening RHEL environments.
• An applicable intermediate DoW 8140 or DoW 8570 certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, Linux+ or SSCP.
• Certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE, Linux Professional Institute Linux Essentials, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA).

Conditions

Active Secret clearance is required.

US citizenship is required.

Travel is listed as less than 10%, and as up to 10% for CONUS/OCONUS travel.

The role is onsite at MacDill AFB, Florida, USA, for 40 hours per week.

The likely salary range is $89,250 to $120,750. This is not a guarantee. Pay is set by experience, geographic location and possibly contract requirements, and may fall outside this range.
