Description

The team keeps the company's mission-critical systems running around the clock, every day of the year, meeting agreed service levels for infrastructure, applications and security.

The role covers Help/Service Desk support, coordinating incident management, deploying production changes, and working with third-party providers the bank contracts during incidents. You will respond immediately to production issues and take part in test cycles to confirm infrastructure and applications can be deployed and operate.

You will also provide specialized consulting, analysis and technical support, and take part in internal and external regulatory inspections. Work focuses mainly on one business group within the company, though the scope may be wider.

Application deadline: 11/15/2026. Location: 4100 Gordon Baker Road.

Responsibilities

  • Run administration and daily operations for Windows and Unix/Linux environments, keeping systems highly available, stable, secure and performing well.
  • Build, maintain and support automation and scripts that streamline operations, cut manual work and improve reliability.
  • Design, implement and manage infrastructure automation with Python, Ansible and other automation frameworks.
  • Support source code management, version control and deployment using GitHub and CI/CD practices.
  • Monitor, manage and support cloud infrastructure and services on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Take part in cloud migration, modernization and optimization projects, making sure security, operational and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Work with development, security and infrastructure teams on Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated deployments and configuration management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across on-premises, hybrid and cloud environments.
  • Provide technical expertise and oversight on the production floor, understanding compliance, equipment and regulatory needs so you can resolve production issues effectively.
  • Monitor and track performance and act on problems you find.
  • Analyse data and information on complex strategic problems and give insights and recommendations.
  • Recommend and implement solutions after analysing issues and their business impact.
  • Spot emerging issues and trends to support decisions.
  • Build strong working relationships at all levels of IT and the business, so you can help shape business strategy.
  • Manage complexity across business value, technology and interaction models.
  • Promote adherence to standards and industry best practices.
  • Take part in professional associations, practice communities and personal learning.
  • Take on other reasonable duties as needed.
  • Take measured risks while protecting the bank: apply the Risk Management Framework, work within the Risk Culture and approved Risk Appetite, and make sound, risk-informed decisions that follow policies, standards, procedures, laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Typically 7-10+ years of work experience in IT or a business environment, and/or a BS/BA, MBA or MS in computer science, engineering, information systems, math or business.
  • Strong experience as a dual system administrator on both Windows Server and Unix/Linux.
  • Hands-on experience with Python scripting and automation development.
  • Experience using Ansible for configuration management, orchestration and infrastructure automation.
  • Proficiency with GitHub, version control practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting and administering Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Understanding of IT operating processes that deliver systems effectively, including IT Operations mandatory standards for monitoring, logging and alerting.
  • Knowledge of support and operations practice, concepts and technology, gained through formal training and/or work experience.
  • Technical and/or business functional knowledge of systems, tools, timing and dependencies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
