Description

The company helps customers connect, protect, analyze and act on their data and applications across edge and cloud environments.

This is an engineering role (job level TCP02) at intermediate level. You apply solid subject knowledge to common technical problems and give the team analysis and recommendations.

You design, build, troubleshoot and debug software for upgrades and new products, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and internet-related tools. You determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design.

You work independently within an established framework, with moderate supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Build and support backend services and APIs, mainly in Python and Go.
  • Choose suitable algorithms, data structures and methods so your code runs efficiently and stays easy to maintain.
  • Take features and fixes from design through code review, automated testing, deployment and ongoing operation.
  • Work alongside product management, QA, DevOps and device engineering colleagues.
  • Use approved AI tools for coding, testing, debugging and exploring code, while remaining accountable for correctness, security and maintainability.

Requirements

  • Have production experience in Python, Go, or both.
  • Have a firm grasp of data structures, algorithms, complexity analysis, concurrency and modular design.
  • Have built backend APIs and asynchronous services that handle errors, timeouts, retries and recovery from failure.
  • Know SQL, data modeling and relational databases. A plus: familiarity with caching or NoSQL systems.
  • Have experience with Git, code reviews, unit and integration tests, and CI/CD.
  • Hold a bachelor's or master's degree in computing or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Typically 3+ years of experience.
  • Be able to use software systems design tools and languages.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Design software that runs across several platform types.
  • Plan and run software testing, including test plans, debugging, and test scripts and tools.
  • Communicate clearly in writing and speech, with full command of English and the local language, presenting design proposals and negotiating options.
  • Good to have: experience with cloud services and containers, such as AWS and Docker.
  • Good to have: problem-solving and communication skills, including investigating unfamiliar systems and seeing work through to completion.
  • Good to have: hands-on use of AWS services such as S3, DynamoDB, RDS/Aurora, SQS and IAM, plus Kubernetes with Helm, and Kafka, Redis or OpenSearch.
  • Good to have: using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, reviewing their output, verifying behavior through tests and protecting sensitive information.
  • Good to have: understanding of microservices architecture, API contracts, and synchronous and asynchronous service-to-service communication.
