Description

The company builds autonomous defence platforms and AI-driven software for NATO Allies and partners, and it works in the defence sector.

The Mission Simulation team is a small, specialised group in Munich. It works with the platform and C2 teams to bring UAVs, surface vessels and EW systems into Software-in-the-Loop simulators used for testing, demos and tactical training.

The team builds realistic environments that show combat conditions, from swarm logic to EW degradation, so developers can iterate quickly and soldiers can train safely.

The role sits at the centre of building the simulated environments the team's operators train in. You will turn real geospatial data into accurate, photorealistic 3D terrain, mainly in VBS4, working with Mission Designers, Trainers and 3D Artists.

Responsibilities

  • Build accurate, realistic 3D terrain and synthetic environments inside VBS4 from real-world geospatial data.
  • Model specific operational areas, such as detailed villages, compounds or particular topographies, to match requirements set by Mission Designers and Trainers.
  • Find and assess satellite imagery, elevation models and GIS datasets, and pick the inputs that give the most accurate result for each simulation area at the best efficiency.
  • Work with in-house 3D Artists to specify, request and add custom 3D models and assets that fill your environments.
  • Test and, where suitable, adopt terrain generation pipelines and tools such as Mantle or TerraTools to scale environment production.
  • Tune terrains and textures in VBS4 for maximum visual realism without hurting simulation performance.

Requirements

  • Degree in Geospatial Engineering, Technical Art, GIS or Game Development, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on work creating synthetic terrain and environments for military simulations.
  • Deep practical skill in VBS4 (Bohemia Interactive Simulations), including terrain import, modification and in-engine environment building.
  • Proven ability to find, process and bring real-world geospatial or GIS data into simulation engines.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to turn high-level tactical training needs into concrete environment modelling tasks.
  • Fluent English, C1 preferred.
  • Experience with professional terrain generation software such as TerraTools (TerraSim) or Mantle.
  • Basic 3D modelling skills to make minor asset changes without slowing down the 3D Artists.
  • To apply, send your CV in English.
