Description

The company builds software products, and this role leads test automation and Continuous Testing across its CT products. You will set the technical direction, architecture, and roadmap for automation frameworks and platforms that make software verification reliable, repeatable, and efficient.

You will work with globally distributed engineering teams to set shared automation standards, framework guidelines, and engineering practices. The work uses Squish, Selenium, BDD frameworks, and CI/CD platforms, and calls for deep technical skill and hands-on coding.

You will work with product, software, verification, systems, architecture, and DevOps teams to raise automation coverage, test reliability, and execution speed, and to drive adoption of Continuous Testing. Your decisions will reach several teams and product lines, and the platforms you shape must stay scalable, maintainable, reusable, and tied to product and business plans.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the test automation team by setting technical direction, guiding architecture, and helping hands-on with difficult automation problems.
  • Define and drive the architecture and roadmap for the Continuous Testing platform across several CT products and configurations.
  • Design, build, integrate, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Squish, Selenium, BDD, and other suitable tools.
  • Create one automation architecture that covers desktop, web, service, and hybrid application workflows.
  • Lead automation of complex desktop apps, including Java Swing applications and applications with embedded browsers.
  • Bring Squish and Selenium together in one Continuous Testing platform that verifies end-to-end workflows reliably.
  • Set and enforce rules for automation development, framework standards, coding, reviews, tagging, reporting, and test reliability.
  • Persuade global software and verification teams to use shared frameworks, reusable parts, engineering practices, and Continuous Testing guidelines.
  • Work with global teams on local product needs, making sure their solutions fit the platform architecture and long-term strategy.
  • Lead through architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, deep dives, troubleshooting, and building critical framework parts yourself.
  • Modernize existing automation by converting legacy Squish tests and older BDD code into standard, maintainable, reusable models.
  • Build reusable libraries, services, utilities, and platform features that many products and teams can adopt.
  • Improve reliability through better synchronization, object recognition, environment handling, failure recovery, logging, diagnostics, and reporting.
  • Lead work to tell apart product defects, automation faults, infrastructure failures, configuration problems, and environment conditions during test runs.
  • Cut test run time, improve parallel execution and resource use, add configuration-based test selection, and raise platform scalability.
  • Bring Selenium and other automation suites into the Continuous Testing infrastructure.
  • Make sure the platform supports development testing, integration testing, dry runs, regression testing, and formal verification and validation.
  • Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to connect automation with CI/CD pipelines, build systems, test environments, reporting tools, and engineering dashboards.
  • Define metrics for coverage, run stability, failure trends, maintainability, and platform performance.
  • Look for ways to use AI-assisted tools in test creation, failure analysis, impact assessment, reporting, and productivity.
  • Work with product managers, architects, systems engineers, verification, software, and DevOps teams to turn product needs into an automation roadmap.
  • Assess technology options and recommend framework design, platform changes, reuse, and build-versus-buy decisions.
  • Mentor automation and software engineers in framework work, software design, test architecture, debugging, and best practices.
  • Resolve conflicting technical approaches across teams and push decisions toward shared engineering goals.
  • Spot technical risks, scaling problems, framework limits, and adoption barriers early, and act before they hurt product delivery.
  • Own automation capabilities end to end, from requirements and architecture through build, integration, validation, release, adoption, and ongoing support.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a STEM field, plus at least 7 years of relevant software engineering experience.

  • Desired: deep knowledge of automation framework architecture, design patterns, scalable platforms, and Continuous Testing practices.
  • Desired: the depth to lead hard architecture discussions and still step in hands-on when critical problems arise.
  • Desired: a clear sense of when Squish, Selenium, BDD, service-level testing, and other approaches fit and when they do not.
  • Desired: experience designing platforms for reliability, extensibility, configurability, maintainability, observability, and reuse.
  • Desired: experience promoting modular frameworks and shared components that cut duplication across products and global teams.
  • Desired: ability to set practical technical governance that does not slow engineering or innovation.
  • Desired: experience leading deep dives and architecture reviews across product teams and technology stacks.
  • Desired: experience modernizing legacy automation into standard, maintainable framework patterns.
  • Desired: a strong case for Continuous Testing and CI/CD as ways to get faster feedback and more predictable delivery.
  • Desired: experience judging where AI-assisted engineering tools give measurable gains in automation, failure analysis, impact assessment, or productivity.
  • Desired: understanding of how automated testing relates to product risk, requirements traceability, release readiness, and formal verification.
  • Desired: ability to tie automation investments to product quality, verification efficiency, release predictability, and customer outcomes.
