Staff Software Engineer

One system handles business travel, group travel, human agents and AI agents.

This is a Staff Software Engineer role on a team where new ideas and collaboration go together.

Responsibilities

• Lead system design across the team, building software systems and APIs that are scalable, secure and fast.
• Work with Product and Data Science to find new opportunities and ship smooth experiences for customers.
• Coach mid-level and senior engineers, and drive work that keeps the codebase high in quality, scalability and robustness.
• Take ownership of major initiatives that make the system more efficient, faster and better for customers.
• Use agentic coding tools every day, understand how agentic workflows operate, build the harness around them, and structure the codebase so agents can work in it.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of hands-on experience designing, building and running highly available, high-performance distributed systems.
• A proven record of shipping public-facing, consumer-grade APIs, including handling versioning, deprecation and consumption-based rate limiting.
• Working knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, Kotlin (or similar modern backend languages), React and AWS.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, scalability and system architecture, with a preference for Domain-Driven Design.
• Comfort solving problems in fast-moving, inventive settings.
• You actively use agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, and you have a clear view of where they help, where they hurt and what defaults the team should adopt.

Conditions

Pay depends on experience, expertise and location. Every role includes equity and a competitive base salary, and some roles also include an annual bonus. Your recruiter will walk you through the full package during the process.

Base pay range: $200,000 to $245,000 USD.

Some roles are also eligible for bonuses or commissions.

The company runs a hybrid-hub model because roles differ in what helps them work well. Whether you work from one of the offices or fully remote, you will get what you need.
