Staff Security Product and Application Engineer

Description

The company's Application and Product Security team protects the products it builds and runs. You will work with Product Engineering, Platform teams and other Security teams, shaping the security strategy for your area while still doing hands-on work. The role mixes deep technical skill, engineering delivery and work across several groups.

You will help product and platform teams design and build secure systems and services.

You will advise teams on secure design, threat modelling and vulnerability management.

You will find, assess and rank application security risks across the organisation and help fix them.

You will take part in architecture reviews, security tooling, automation and incident response.

You will help set security standards, best practices and KPIs that keep improving the security posture of your area.

You will push security-by-design and shift-left practices through the whole software development lifecycle.

You will lead complicated technical projects and security initiatives with stakeholders from several teams.

You will raise security awareness by sharing knowledge, coaching peers and promoting secure engineering.

You will work with Security, Product and Platform teams to improve security processes, tooling and operations.

Requirements

• You have worked in security engineering, or have made a significant contribution to application or product security in past roles.
• You have a background in product engineering or SRE / platform engineering and know modern software development practices well.
• You have led complex technical projects and driven cross-functional work in large-scale environments.
• You are comfortable as a subject matter expert on security, advising teams on risks, trade-offs and best practices.
• You have secured distributed systems, cloud-native environments and modern application architectures.
• You like combining hands-on engineering, problem solving and technical leadership.
• You influence without formal authority, building trust and alignment across varied stakeholders and teams.
• You show strong ownership, accountability and sound judgement when handling sensitive security topics.
• You care about improving security through scalable solutions, automation and collaboration.
