Description

The Platform team creates the technology that enables Spotify to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the infrastructure, tooling, frameworks, and capabilities needed to welcome a billion customers.

Spotify runs on the tools we've built for ourselves. They help hundreds of teams ship every day to hundreds of millions of people around the world. Now, we're sharing them.

Spotify Technology brings our proven tools and services together for engineering organisations everywhere, from global enterprises to individual developers. As AI reshapes how software gets made, we're building on years of experience solving complex engineering challenges at scale.

Platform Design makes these powerful tools feel effortless. We shape the services, products and experiences used by Spotify's engineering teams and by developers around the world. We believe great design is a competitive advantage, and developer tools deserve the same care and craft as any consumer product.

As a Staff Product Designer, you'll combine product leadership with hands-on design and engineering. You'll shape the experience strategy for a key part of the Spotify Technology portfolio, establish a distinctive visual language, and turn internal tools into products customers love using. You'll work closely with product, engineering and marketing partners, reporting to the Spotify Technology Design Director.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex design challenges from early exploration through to production, creating intuitive flows, interfaces, interactions and motion that make powerful developer tools easier to use.
  • Shape the visual language of Spotify Technology, bringing consistency, personality and craft across product experiences and brand touchpoints.
  • Transform tools built for Spotify's engineering teams into compelling commercial products that meet the needs of developers and enterprise customers.
  • Bring design to life in code, building and shipping high-quality front-end experiences with close attention to performance, accessibility and detail.
  • Set experience strategy across your product area, partnering with product and engineering leaders to influence priorities, guide decisions and shape the roadmap.
  • Use prototypes, storytelling and experimentation to make complex ideas tangible, build alignment and help teams navigate trade-offs.
  • Explore how generative AI and agentic tools can improve design and development workflows, while creating thoughtful experiences for products used by people and AI agents.
  • Raise the bar for design craft across the team, championing design systems, inclusive experiences and a culture of collaboration, feedback and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • You have a strong background in product design, with experience shaping complex digital products and delivering high-quality visual and interaction design.
  • You're comfortable working across strategy and execution, setting a clear product direction while staying close to the details of design and delivery.
  • You can build and ship user interfaces using a modern front-end technology stack, and enjoy bringing your designs into production.
  • You understand how to create cohesive visual experiences across product and brand, with a thoughtful approach to interaction, motion and design systems.
  • You bring an understanding of developer tools, enterprise software or platform products, including the challenges of designing for technical audiences.
  • You use generative AI and agentic tools in your work, applying sound judgement about where they add value and where human expertise matters most.
  • You're comfortable navigating ambiguity, using research, data and customer insights to make informed decisions and solve complex problems.
  • You communicate ideas clearly, build trust across disciplines and influence product decisions through compelling design work and storytelling.
  • You care about helping others grow, welcome different perspectives and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative environment where great work can happen.
  • Where You'll Be
  • This role is based in London, UK or Stockholm, Sweden
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home.
