Description

The company is building an AI-powered platform that helps insurers decide which risks to take on and how to price them, in a £7 trillion industry.

Insurers have long made billion-pound decisions with outdated tools. The platform combines data, AI and human expertise to shorten the route from submission to decision.

Backed by a16z, Highland Europe and Battery Ventures, the company is growing worldwide. Nearly 50 of the world's largest insurers use it, with zero churn and billions in premiums flowing through it.

The platform started as one product in one market and now covers several products and territories across every stage of pricing and underwriting. AI is central, from a domain-specific AI coding assistant for insurance to agentic workflows.

People here are judged by the challenges they take on and the discipline they bring, not by title or tenure. You would work alongside peers who push you on hard problems, in a company built to last.

The Platform team builds the foundation that lets engineering teams ship secure, scalable applications quickly. The goal is an AI-first platform, with self-service infrastructure, automation and reusable components that raise developer productivity and operational quality.

Interview process: an initial call with the Talent team, a hiring manager interview, a technical assessment with a follow-up interview, a values interview, and a meeting with the CEO.

The talent team reviews every application and promises feedback whatever the outcome.

Responsibilities

  • Set a coherent technical direction for the platform over 12, 18 months, with clear trade-offs, milestones and agreement across engineering leadership.
  • Make platform capabilities well designed and well documented enough that teams adopt them because they remove friction, and reduce the platform's role as a bottleneck in common provisioning and deployment work.
  • Define the architecture patterns and standards that let engineers build AI-native and automated workflows without the Platform team involved in each initiative.
  • Build security, reliability and operational standards into how every team works by making them the easiest path, and reduce misconfigurations, security exceptions and operational incidents across the estate.
  • Become the technical authority others seek out, and help senior engineers grow in architecture, trade-offs and platform thinking.

Requirements

  • Have defined architecture, standards and patterns for a platform domain over a multi-quarter horizon, making hard calls such as build versus buy, depth versus breadth, and short-term pragmatism versus long-term coherence, and bringing the organisation with you.
  • Work through disagreement among senior engineers, architects and stakeholders to reach decisions that last. Hold a position under pressure, change it when better evidence appears, and make sure decisions stick.
  • Take accountability for outcomes that span several teams and that you do not deliver yourself. Design systems, standards and enablement that multiply other engineers' effectiveness rather than doing all the hands-on work.
  • Have shaped how AI and automation are embedded in a platform at architectural level, setting patterns that make AI-augmented workflows the norm across engineering rather than just trying tools.
  • Understand adoption dynamics, internal customer needs and the barriers to self-service. Shape the roadmap from feedback, usage data and an honest view of friction, so the platform earns adoption rather than mandating it.
  • Spot architectural, security and operational risks before they become incidents, and influence how the wider engineering organisation thinks about reliability, security posture and cost, beyond the Platform remit.
  • Link platform decisions to business outcomes clearly. Present platform strategy to senior leaders, translate engineering constraints into business language, and use commercial context to sharpen technical priorities.
  • Develop senior engineers through challenge, honest feedback and exposure to harder problems. Raise the capability of the team, not just the quality of code, and model the engineering culture the company is building.
  • You are unlikely to thrive here if you prefer executing predefined tasks to owning ambiguous problems that need exploration, experimentation and iteration.
  • You are unlikely to thrive here if you see platform engineering as isolated infrastructure rather than a product with internal customers whose adoption and satisfaction define success.
  • You are unlikely to thrive here if you are uneasy with rapid change and continuous improvement based on data and feedback, and prefer stability and established patterns.
  • If reading the Culture Document leaves you neutral rather than energised, the company may not be the right place for your best work, as it asks for commitment and conviction.

Conditions

Pay transparency: you will have clarity on pay early, as the Talent Partner shares details during initial conversations. The company is working toward publishing salary information for all roles globally.

Because the work sits between technology, SaaS and insurance, roles do not always match standard benchmarks. Pay is meant to be competitive in the market, fair across teams and matched to the impact people make.

Contracts are available as a Contract of Employment (UoP) or as a B2B contract.

The company wants a diverse and genuinely inclusive team, and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.

Benefits

  • Share options in a Series B company described as highly successful.
  • 25 days of non-working time plus Polish bank holidays, and 26 days of holiday plus Polish bank holidays as also stated.
  • £5,000 GBP learning and development budget.
  • Mental health support and therapy through Spectrum Life.
  • Company pension.
  • Company sick pay for 10 days at 100% of salary.
  • Monthly wellbeing allowance through Juno.
  • Private healthcare insurance through Luxmed.
  • Multisport membership at Classic level.
  • Top-spec equipment, including a laptop running MacOS or Windows, additional monitors and mechanical keyboards.
