Staff Full Stack Engineer

The company builds an all-in-one HR, payroll and hiring platform for hourly workers, a group of about 2.7 billion people who make up 80% of the global workforce and have been poorly served by technology. The platform was built for this group from the start.

Customers include well-known restaurant brands such as Burger King, Carl's Jr./Hardee's, IHOP, KFC and Culvers. The company is at Series B, growing quickly and widening its product range. Investors include Founders Fund, BOND and Coatue.

The engineering team is made up of engineers from UC Berkeley, Cornell, SJTU, Cambridge and NUS, with earlier experience at Tencent, Alibaba, Amazon, ByteDance and other companies. The team builds cloud products for local businesses and the deskless workforce.

The company is hiring a Staff Full Stack Engineer to join this team. You will have a strong background in full-stack application development and at least 8 years of experience in the field.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with product managers, engineering managers and other engineers to ship well-defined features.
• Explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical colleagues in Engineering, Product, GTM and Customer Success.
• Use test-driven development to produce high-quality, reliable software, and encourage others to do the same.
• Communicate well in English, both spoken and written.

Requirements

• 8 to 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one of Python, Java, PHP or JavaScript, with experience building full-stack, high-performance, high-availability applications.
• A solid grasp of programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience building scalable systems and running a test-driven CI/CD process that keeps quality high.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB, and an understanding of how to choose between them.
• Knowledge of caching tools such as Redis or Memcached.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Proven experience designing distributed systems with a whole-system view.
• Experience with NextJS or another front-end technology.
• You keep up with new technology trends and keep improving your own productivity.

Conditions

Full-time, hybrid role: you work in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, two days a week, to collaborate closely with colleagues.
