Staff DevOps Engineer

The role is based in the office three days a week, close to the Cambridge Science Park office.

The role focuses on resilient cloud-native environments, deployment pipelines, and custom automation that helps customers succeed at scale, suited to a technical expert who works well across teams and improves things continuously.

Responsibilities

• Build and keep improving CI/CD processes, and automate server provisioning and application deployment.
• Build a resilient, scalable service infrastructure that can serve multiple regions.
• Deploy, monitor, and scale application services.
• Build and maintain clear, solid working relationships with software development departments.
• Plan and document work and projects, and take part in project management and ongoing strategic planning.
• Mentor team members and share knowledge across the team.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in a DevOps or SRE environment.
• 6+ years of experience with Linux and Windows systems.
• Strong understanding of Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda, Opensearch, S3, FSX, Route53, and network appliances.
• Working knowledge of Jenkins, GitLab, or another CI system.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure as code, with Terraform preferred.
• Good understanding of the software development lifecycle and microservice architecture.
• Good experience monitoring Kubernetes clusters, APM, services, and AWS-hosted infrastructure using tools such as NewRelic and Prometheus.
• Ability to build automation tools in Go, Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
• Familiarity with continuous delivery tools used with microservices.
• Coding experience.

Conditions
