The APEX Data and Architecture team builds and maintains the Data Lakehouse that supports an AI-ready platform for seamless data access and action. This team delivers enriched, business-friendly data sets that empower users to integrate data across multiple domains, enabling informed, data-driven decisions. Leveraging advanced data engineering practices and cloud technologies, the team ensures high data quality, security, and effective data modeling. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, the team drives innovative solutions that enhance data usability and support strategic business objectives within a robust and scalable data environment.

Responsibilities

• Role summary :
• Walmart is seeking a Staff Data Engineer to design and implement scalable data solutions that support business objectives across multiple domains. This role involves translating complex business requirements into effective data models, pipelines, and governance practices while ensuring data quality, security, and compliance. The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver actionable insights, optimize data integration, and advance cloud-based architectures. Expertise in modern data engineering tools and methodologies is essential to drive innovation and operational excellence within a dynamic, data-driven environment.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable data engineering solutions aligned with organizational strategy.
• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and workflows using tools such as PySpark, Airflow, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Implement data modeling techniques to support data warehousing, lakehouse architectures, and ensure data quality and security.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify relevant data sources and perform data integration, transformation, and validation.
• Apply data governance policies and ensure compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data processes to optimize performance and reliability.
• Provide guidance on best practices for data architecture and documentation.
• What you'll bring :
• Bachelors with minimum 5+ years of experience in data engineering, including proficiency with PySpark, Airflow, and Google Cloud Platform services such as Dataproc .
• Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques , data lakehouse architectures, and data warehousing solutions .
• Experience ensuring data quality, security, and governance in compliance with regulatory and ethical standards.
• Ability to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines integrating internal and external data sources.
• Experience designing and implementing federated graph in GraphQL
• Demonstrated capability to translate complex business requirements into effective data solutions.
