Sr. Software Engineer

Description

The company is a media and entertainment business that runs several consumer streaming and broadcast brands. You would join the Content Delivery Engineering team, part of the Global Video Engineering group, based in New York City, USA.

The team delivers video on demand, live events and linear channels to millions of viewers in the US, UK, EU and Africa.

The team focuses on multi-CDN design and operations, performance telemetry and analytics, and connecting content origins to workflows such as dynamic ad insertion, manifest manipulation and new player technologies.

You would work daily with colleagues in the US, UK and elsewhere, so clear communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain fast, large-scale software, mainly in Go, that delivers video to viewers across several streaming services.
• Create reliable, well-tested services for VOD, live, linear, dynamic ad insertion and manifest manipulation workflows.
• Review colleagues' code to keep quality high, keep architecture clear and support a healthy engineering culture.
• Work with Site Reliability Engineering to design systems that are highly available, resilient, performant and fault-tolerant across regions.
• Use metrics, logs, traces and performance data to spot problems early and find root causes quickly.
• Help shape multi-CDN strategy, routing logic and origin workflows for strong streaming performance worldwide.
• Communicate daily with engineers across four regions and keep documentation strong.
• Guide technical direction, architecture and best practices as a senior member of the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years building software professionally, with hands-on Go (preferred) or Python experience.
• Hands-on experience running applications in a cloud such as AWS, GCP or Azure, using containers and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Solid grasp of CI/CD, Git repositories, automated testing and build pipelines.
• Practical SRE experience with reliability targets (SLIs/SLOs), auto-scaling, distributed systems reliability or incident response.
• Familiarity with Agile methods such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining design decisions and working with distributed teams.
• Preferred: experience with CDNs such as Akamai, CloudFront, Fastly or Cloudflare, or with streaming media delivery systems.
• Preferred: understanding of video streaming technologies such as HLS, DASH, manifests, origins or content routing.
• Preferred: experience building systems for global scale, multi-region deployments or high availability.

Conditions

Hybrid schedule: you must work from the office at least four days a week.

The company may change in-office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $120,000 - $170,000.
