Description

Profound is the fastest-growing AI marketing platform, used by 15% of the Fortune 500 including Comcast, Estée Lauder, and Walmart, and innovators like Ramp, MongoDB, and Figma. It is where marketing teams do the work: research, briefs, content, campaigns, reporting, all in one place, alongside agents that carry the load with them.

Built on 2B+ real user prompts and growing, Profound’s data shows you what people ask AI and what the models say back. Profound's AI Marketer joins that data with deep context about our customers to find the opportunities worth acting on, and then puts agents to work: automating reporting, drafting content, auditing pages for readability, running competitive research. It measures what works and gets better every day.

Profound is an AI-native company, and we want the way we operate internally to reflect that. We are hiring a Technical Lead Manager to build and lead our Internal Tooling team in San Francisco or New York City. You'll build the applications, integrations, and AI-powered workflows that help teams across Profound get work done with less manual effort.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll own technical direction and delivery while hiring, coaching, and growing engineers. Your internal customers include GTM, Data, Security, and Operations. You'll work with them to rethink workflows around what AI can do, turn promising automations into dependable systems, and keep people in control of decisions that need their judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a team of engineers, including hiring, coaching, feedback, and career development
  • Set the roadmap and technical direction for internal tools and automation, balancing immediate business needs with reliability and long-term maintainability
  • Design and build internal applications, integrations, and AI-powered workflows that help teams operate more effectively
  • Work with GTM and other internal partners on systems such as lead routing, data enrichment, and operational workflows, using LLMs and agents where they improve the outcome
  • Bring existing internal systems onto a reliable, secure foundation, with clear ownership, monitoring, access controls, and support expectations
  • Build evaluation, human review, and fallback paths into AI-powered workflows
  • Decide when to build, buy, or reuse existing systems, and reduce duplication where it makes sense
  • Establish a clear intake and prioritization process so the team can focus on the highest-impact work
  • Stay hands-on through system design, code reviews, debugging, and engineering contributions
  • Own the health of the team's systems, including incident response and sustainable operational practices

Requirements

  • An experienced engineer and technical leader who has built and operated production applications and integrations
  • Strong experience with TypeScript and Python, including writing and operating production code
  • A people leader who enjoys hiring and developing engineers, giving direct feedback, and building a high-performing team
  • Experienced working with internal stakeholders to understand their workflows and turn ambiguous needs into useful products
  • Someone who sees opportunities to redesign work around AI rather than simply automate existing steps
  • Comfortable leading across architecture and implementation, with practical judgment about where AI adds value and how to balance speed, reliability, security, and maintenance
  • Able to prioritize competing requests and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical partners
  • Thoughtful about operating systems in production, including testing, observability, access controls, and incident response
  • Thrive in a startup environment that values speed, iteration, and quality
  • Can just do things
  • Experience building internal tools, business applications, or automation for GTM and Operations teams, including LLM-powered applications or agent workflows
  • Experience with Rust
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and integrations with tools such as Salesforce, Snowflake, and Slack
  • Experience taking ownership of systems built across multiple teams and bringing them onto a shared operational foundation
  • Experience building a new engineering team or function

Conditions

This is an on-site role based in our San Francisco or New York City office, designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and meaningful impact.

For this role, the expected base salary range is $230,000 to $275,000. Comp may vary by location. Profound's total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks. Final compensation will depend on factors such as your skills, experience, qualifications, and location, and will be determined during the interview process. Our recruiting team will share more details about the full compensation package and benefits as you move through hiring.

Note: All official communication from Profound will come from a @tryprofound.com email address. If you're contacted by anyone using a different domain, please disregard and report it as spam.
