Sr. Principal Software Engineer

Description

The company builds systems for defense work, and this role sits in its Defense Systems group in Beavercreek, Ohio.

The role covers the full software development lifecycle with a focus on software engineering, building web-based solutions that plug into a cloud-based microservice architecture.

You will work closely with other software developers and need a strong mix of technical skill and communication to deliver reliable products.

Responsibilities

• Help the team finish required software on schedule.
• Work on your own and as part of an Agile team.
• Find creative, workable answers to complex problems.
• Work with software designers and/or software engineers on planning, design, development and use of software systems.
• Show progress to customers on a regular basis.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Implement solutions in a web-based environment and integrate them into a microservice cloud-based architecture.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field from an accredited institution; 6 years with a master's degree.
• Experience with HTML and JavaScript.
• Experience with relational, graph, or document databases.
• Experience with microservices, Swagger and API definitions.
• Working knowledge of Agile development processes.
• Experience with modern IDE tools and testing methods.
• Strong interpersonal skills for communicating effectively with small technical teams.
• Ability to set priorities and adjust tasks to deliver project results.
• Ability to understand and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
• Active Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
• Human Factors Engineering experience.
• Experience with Proview Signals Analysis Software.
• Experience writing and carrying out software test plans.
• Preferred: experience with Angular, TypeScript, Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, Jira and GitLab pipelines.
• Preferred: experience developing microservices with the Spring Framework.
• Preferred: experience using IDEs and configuration management tools such as Git and Bitbucket.
• Preferred: experience working with Jira and GitLab.
• Preferred: experience working in an Agile software development environment.

Conditions

Travel is required about 10% of the time.

Secret clearance type is required before the start date.

No relocation assistance is available.

The base salary range is $129,300.00 to $193,900.00, a general guideline; final pay depends on the scope of the role and factors such as experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
