Description

The company is a NASDAQ-listed sports technology and iGaming business, growing quickly and serving thousands of partners worldwide with sports data and content. The role sits in the iGaming division and focuses on sports-based casino games.

You will lead engineering for these products, setting the technical direction and the engineering culture. The work combines high-frequency sports data with real-time gaming, so you will turn product strategy into scalable technical roadmaps and help developers work faster through modern practices, including AI-assisted development.

The company is a sports technology company working at the crossing point of sports, media and betting. More than 1,700 sports federations, media outlets, betting operators and consumer platforms in 120 countries use its technology.

The role is a people-facing leadership position with hands-on coding expected.

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve resilient, low-latency distributed architectures that handle heavy concurrency and real-time video and sports data streams.
  • Set standards for AI coding assistants across the development lifecycle, covering code generation, documentation, test generation and refactoring of legacy code.
  • Set the quality bar in test-driven development, security-first design and clean code, so that quality and speed support each other.
  • Connect front-end, back-end and infrastructure teams so that product delivery and technical direction stay aligned.
  • Work in the code on critical path problems and lead difficult refactors and high-stakes features.
  • Mentor Staff and Senior Engineers and help them grow into more autonomous work.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software development experience, including a proven record in iGaming, betting or high-concurrency real-time gaming.
  • Expert knowledge of Java and the JVM ecosystem, plus modern front-end frameworks such as React and TypeScript.
  • Deep experience using AI coding assistants in daily work, and the ability to fit them into a secure, enterprise-grade process.
  • Proven experience designing complex distributed systems in the cloud, with deep expertise in AWS (ECS, EKS, RDS, S3).
  • Track record of influencing technical direction across several squads, not only your own team.
  • Ability to explain complex technical constraints to non-technical leaders in terms of business risk and opportunity.
  • Nice to have: expertise in low-latency game engine architecture for mobile or browser-based games.
  • Nice to have: experience building and scaling real-time video streaming solutions.
  • Nice to have: knowledge of global iGaming regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Nice to have: a strong grasp of DevOps as a culture, not only as a toolset.

Conditions

Office-first role: you work on site five days a week. Exemptions may apply depending on location, and your local contact can confirm the details.

Engineering offices are in Europe, Asia and the US, so you will work with colleagues around the world.

Flexible working hours and autonomy in managing your day and tasks, balanced with clear structure.

The recruitment process has five steps: an initial online chat with the talent partner, a take-home technical task, a technical interview with the hiring manager and/or another interviewer, a final interview to meet the team, and then feedback and, if successful, an offer.

Minimum monthly salary is set by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Higher pay may be offered depending on qualifications and experience.

We are an equal-opportunity employer.

Benefits

  • Social events and team-building activities.
  • Global Employee Assistance Program.
  • Calm and Reulay well-being apps, which support focus, rest, mindfulness and long-term mental resilience.
  • Online training videos.
  • An inclusive community that welcomes everyone.
