Sr. Full Stack Liferay Developer

Description

The company Canada is hiring a senior full-stack Liferay developer for the B2B Customer Portal team, which designs, builds, runs and improves secure, reliable and scalable customer-facing portal solutions.

You will work with business analysts, product owners, architects, QA, UX designers, internal technology teams, business stakeholders and external partners to deliver strong digital experiences built on Liferay and modern full-stack tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, configure, test and roll out customer portal solutions on Liferay DXP.
• Build across the stack, including user interfaces, backend services, APIs, integrations and data layers.
• Create and maintain Liferay modules, reusable components, portlets, workflows, themes and content features.
• Build responsive, accessible interfaces with current front-end tools.
• Turn business and technical requirements into technical designs and working software alongside the business and technical teams.
• Take part in design reviews, estimation, planning, testing, deployment and go-live.
• Write and maintain technical specs, interface documentation, deployment notes and handoff materials for operations.
• Build and maintain secure REST APIs and integrations with enterprise applications, identity services and external platforms.
• Help implement SSO, MFA, OAuth and role-based access.
• Help with platform upgrades, modernization, performance work, scaling and reducing technical debt.
• Apply secure coding, privacy, accessibility and enterprise architecture standards in every delivery.
• Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for production portal issues.
• Investigate and fix defects, integration failures, performance problems and issues reported by customers.
• Run root cause analysis and put lasting fixes in place to cut repeat incidents.
• Support monitoring, incident, problem, change and release activities as needed.
• Help set development standards, run code reviews, write automated tests, document work and share knowledge with the team.
• Use approved AI-assisted tools responsibly for development, testing, documentation and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience building and supporting enterprise web applications.
• Strong hands-on experience building solutions on Liferay DXP.
• Strong experience with Java, Spring, REST services and enterprise application development.
• Experience building Liferay OSGi modules, custom portlets, services, workflows, themes or client extensions.
• Full-stack experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and a modern framework such as React or Angular.
• Experience designing and consuming APIs and integrating enterprise applications.
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL.
• Experience with source control, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Experience troubleshooting production issues and working through the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, collaboration and communication skills.
• Preferred: Liferay DXP certification or equivalent practical experience.
• Preferred: Experience with B2B customer portals, eCommerce, order management, healthcare distribution, wholesale or supply chain environments.
• Preferred: Experience with Azure, containers, cloud-native patterns and application observability.
• Preferred: Experience with SSO, MFA, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth or related identity and access technologies.
• Preferred: Experience with accessibility, performance optimization, secure coding and high-availability applications.
• Preferred: Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, DevOps and product-oriented delivery.
• Preferred: Experience with or knowledge of AI technologies, including generative AI, large language models, machine learning concepts and AI-assisted development tools.
• Preferred: Experience using approved AI tools for coding, testing, documentation, code review or issue analysis is an asset.
• Preferred: Familiarity with AI integration concepts such as prompt design, APIs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search or AI agents is an asset.
• Preferred: Understanding of responsible AI practices, including privacy, security, governance, human review and protecting sensitive information.

Conditions

Work in the office two (2) days per week, in Ville Saint-Laurent, Quebec or Mississauga, Ontario.

Base pay range: $99,100 - $132,100.

Pay depends on performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market reviews and geographic market, and follows the company's pay philosophy and applicable regulations.

Other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities, may be offered in addition to base pay.
