Description

The company's PLM platform team runs Teamcenter, the product lifecycle management system that engineering and supply chain staff use to design, build and support jet engines for commercial and military customers.

You would join a small, tight-knit team that builds, runs and upgrades the classified Teamcenter environments behind the company's U.S. defense programs. The work is on site in Evendale (Cincinnati), Ohio, inside secure facilities, supporting engineers on the next generation of military engines.

The role is broad and hands-on. You will work with architects, developers, cybersecurity and operations engineers across the wider PLM team. When capacity allows, you will also learn and support the company's global enterprise Teamcenter platform and help apply AI and automation to how the platform is built and run. Teamcenter experience is welcome but not required, since strong enterprise application engineers learn it on the job.

Candidates need not match every desired item. Aptitude and drive to learn count as much as experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, set up, administer and support Teamcenter PLM environments in classified, air-gapped facilities, including building new environments.
  • Carry out releases, patches and upgrades in those environments by following set deployment steps, change control and release governance.
  • Watch platform health, performance and uptime. Triage production problems covering data, configuration, performance and security, find the root cause and drive fixes.
  • Coordinate with the classified-environment System Architect and the wider PLM development, release and operations teams to move tested solutions into the classified environments and keep practices consistent across them.
  • Keep all work in line with classified data handling, cybersecurity and audit rules, including fast vulnerability remediation and patching.
  • Work with engineering users to understand their needs, fix their issues and suggest improvements.
  • Write and maintain runbooks, technical procedures and records of system changes.
  • Cross-train with teammates so no single person is the only one able to support the classified environments, and take part in the team's on-call rota.
  • As capacity allows, contribute to the company's global enterprise Teamcenter platform across releases, upgrades, operations and automation.
  • Learn and apply AI tools and automation to improve how the platform is deployed, tested, operated and documented.
  • Apply the company's FLIGHT DECK lean operating model day to day: daily management, structured problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Share knowledge and help new team members get up to speed.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university plus at least 2 years of professional experience, or an associate degree plus at least 5 years, or a high school diploma plus at least 7 years. Military experience counts as professional experience.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server environments, relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server, and SQL.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, upgrading or supporting enterprise applications such as PLM, MES, ERP or similar systems in a large organization.
  • Experience carrying out application deployments, patches or upgrades under a change management process.
  • Ability to obtain and keep a U.S. Government security clearance at Secret or higher.
  • Desired: an active security clearance, though it is not required to apply.
  • Desired: Teamcenter or other PLM experience in administration, configuration, deployment or upgrades, such as 4-tier architecture, Active Workspace, FMS, Dispatcher or BMIDE.
  • Desired: experience in classified, regulated or air-gapped environments.
  • Desired: scripting in PowerShell, shell or Python, and interest in CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code.
  • Desired: experience using AI tools to improve engineering work, and a willingness to keep learning as the tools change.
  • Desired: familiarity with ITIL incident, problem and change management.
  • Desired: ability to grasp new concepts quickly and analyse system weaknesses.
  • Desired: care about security and the quality of the applications they support.
  • Desired: organised, thorough and detail-minded.
  • Desired: takes ownership, follows work through to the end, raises problems early and asks for help when needed.
  • Desired: works well with others and takes input from many sources.
  • Desired: eager to learn, shares ideas and accepts feedback well.
  • Desired: strong analytical and problem-solving skills, clear and concise communication, sound decisions based on data, and the ability to anticipate obstacles and plan around them.
  • Desired: interest in current and emerging technology.
  • Desired: customer focus, judging decisions from the customer's view and building strong customer relationships.
  • Desired: experience working with global teams and contracted partners.
  • Desired: high energy and enthusiasm, thriving in a dynamic setting and enjoying on-site work every day as part of a close-knit team.
