Description

The role is remote and US-based, with base pay of $172,000 to $215,000 plus equity.

The company is object storage for AI and data-intensive workloads. It manages nearly 6 billion gigabytes for more than 500K customers in over 175 countries, and it is growing quickly among Neoclouds, GenAI companies, and data-heavy businesses.

Developers shape the company's next stage, and the team wants to earn their trust through credible work.

Developer relations is changing fast. Coding agents now make many integration choices for developers, based on reference architectures and machine-readable docs, while trust and human contact matter more than ever.

The storage product began with developer demand and has stayed focused on developers since day one. The company wants to be the default storage choice for agent-led projects and a trusted source of support and enablement for developers building on storage.

You will lead a program that already has strong assets: a mature docs team, an engineering team on AI ecosystem integrations, a startup program for early-stage builders, a content group, and an outward-facing solutions engineering team. You will turn these into one credible developer presence.

You start as an individual contributor with real influence across these teams. The role suits someone who thinks in systems, plans backward from adoption goals, can earn technical credibility with developers who do not yet know the company, and is comfortable both directing work and being the public face of developer relations.

Responsibilities

  • Make the product the best storage layer for developers and their agents by studying how AI coders find and judge infrastructure tools, including MCP servers, coding agent contexts, reference architectures, SDKs, and machine-readable docs.
  • Work with the internal AI team to define what agent-ready means for the company, then lead delivery across engineering, docs, and content.
  • Coordinate engineering work on AI tooling integrations such as MLflow, ComfyUI, Hugging Face, and popular agent frameworks, the docs team's move to structured, agent-readable formats, the content group's output, and the solutions engineering team's enablement work.
  • Set one developer strategy across these groups, keep it moving, and publish its results externally.
  • Build the company's credibility in developer communities such as GitHub, Discord, open source projects, events, and AI infrastructure tooling. Earn that presence rather than buying it.
  • Amplify the company's internal technical experts, build your own thought leadership, and work with ecosystem partners.
  • Run a steady feedback loop from developers to product and engineering, reporting adoption friction, unmet integration needs, and patterns worth acting on. Use the startup program's early builders as a signal source.
  • Define success metrics such as developer signups, activation, adoption in AI frameworks, community engagement, and content reach, then track progress. Link awareness to conversion and revenue.
  • If the program succeeds, help bring in developer resources, either hired or moved from elsewhere in the company.

Requirements

  • Have led developer relations, developer marketing, or developer experience work at a cloud infrastructure, open source, or AI tooling company, and built or greatly expanded a developer program yourself.
  • Understand how agentic workflows change the way developers find and adopt infrastructure, and have clear views on what that means for developer relations.
  • Be technically credible. You can read a codebase, assess an SDK, write a working integration, and discuss tradeoffs with engineers. You do not need to be a full-time software engineer, but you should have been one or come close.
  • Have worked, or started something, without a large team, and know how to extend your reach through partners, cross-functional allies, and community.
  • Communicate well with developers and leadership. You can write a precise technical tutorial and a clear executive summary.
  • Already have a presence in developer communities before joining, such as a following, conference talks, open source contributions, or a technical blog.
  • Strong plus: direct experience with model training, data processing, or generative media.
  • Strong plus: familiarity with how coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot surface and recommend infrastructure tools.
  • Strong plus: experience working with or building on AI and ML open source frameworks such as MLflow, DVC, Ray Data, WebDataset, and MosaicML Streaming.
  • Strong plus: prior experience running or contributing to a startup or developer program, such as an accelerator or cohort model.
