Wabtec Spring 2027 Software Engineering Co-Op (10-Week)

Description

Students on this 10-week co-op in spring 2027 work on real business projects and can explore their career interests while doing so.

Areas of interest include design engineering, sustainability, systems, hands-on testing, machine vision, data analytics, embedded software, RF communications engineering, systems engineering, enterprise software, and other digital technology fields.

You would gain real work experience with products in the Locomotive, Transit, Mining, and Marine Propulsion systems businesses.

The program aims to connect your coursework to practical work, show you the job paths available, and prepare you for a possible full-time role after graduation in a leadership program or a direct hire position.

Requirements

• You have completed three years of college and are currently a senior.
• You are enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program in computer science.
• You have experience with front end web technologies, such as ReactJS.
• You have experience with GitLab and DevOps.
• You are familiar with Python and unit testing tools.
• You have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• You have a strong background in computer science or software engineering.
• You have worked in a production software development environment.
• You are legally authorized to work in the U.S. and do not need current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship.
• You have strong initiative and can work independently as well as on a team.
• You have demonstrated experience in leadership roles.
• You want to keep learning and growing technically to build on your classroom education.
• You can communicate technical ideas clearly and show critical thinking and problem solving.
• You have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• You can work for at least 10 weeks and up to 12 weeks.
• You are willing to take assignments at any of the company's many locations.
• Desired: background in systems architecture and engineering.
• Desired: background in software architecture and design.
• Desired: experience designing and building industrial monitoring solutions.
• Desired: strong UX and user interaction design skills.

Conditions

This co-op is based only in Schenectady, NY, and works with the Remote Monitoring and Diagnostics group.

Spring co-op hourly rates range from $19 to $33 per hour.

Your rate is set by a matrix based on your year in school or graduation year and your major.

To qualify for the master's rate, you must provide proof of your undergraduate degree and graduation date, and proof that you are enrolled in an accredited master's program for spring 2027.

The posted salary rate is $0-0.

Actual pay depends on factors such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demand, and work location.

The pay range may change over time.
