This is a Solutions Architect role in the Professional Services team, designing highly scalable answers to hard data problems using CDP, NiFi, Spark and related Big Data technologies.

The role is client facing and mixes consulting with hands-on technical design and development in Big Data, across the EMEA region and multiple industries.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers to build large-scale Big Data solutions on the company Data Platform and the company Dataflow.
• Design and implement Hadoop and NiFi platform architectures and configurations for customers.
• Install and upgrade platforms for advanced secured cluster configurations.
• Analyse complex distributed production deployments and recommend performance improvements.
• Document and present complex architectures to customer technical teams.
• Work closely with the company teams at all levels to deliver customer consulting engagements successfully.
• Drive customer projects through to completion.
• Write technical documentation, blogs and knowledge-base articles.
• Support pre-sales and post-sales work, helping sales and product teams interpret customer requirements.
• Keep up to date with Hadoop Big Data ecosystem technologies.
• Speak at events when needed.

Requirements

• Fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.
• 10+ years in information technology and system architecture.
• 5+ years of customer-facing Professional Services experience architecting large-scale storage, data centre and/or globally distributed solutions.
• 5+ years designing and deploying 3-tier architectures or large-scale Hadoop solutions.
• Able to identify big data use cases and recommend standard design patterns for Hadoop-based and streaming data deployments.
• Knowledge of the data management ecosystem, including data warehousing, ETL and data integration concepts.
• Able to turn customer requirements into technical requirements.
• Experience implementing data transformation and processing solutions.
• Experience designing data queries on HDFS using tools such as Apache Hive.
• Experience setting up multi-node Hadoop clusters.
• Experience configuring security with LDAP/AD and Kerberos/SPNEGO.
• Strong experience implementing software or solutions in enterprise Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of enterprise security solutions such as LDAP and/or Kerberos.
• Strong understanding of network configuration, devices, protocols, speeds and optimisation.
• Strong understanding of the Java ecosystem, including debugging, logging, monitoring and profiling tools.
• Familiarity with scripting and automation tools such as bash, Python, Perl, Ansible, Chef and Puppet.
• Experience architecting data centre solutions, selecting server and storage hardware on performance, availability and ROI.
• Optional: the company or HDP certification (HDPCA or HDPCD) is a plus.

Conditions

Based in Italy or Spain.

Travel up to 30%.

Must be eligible to work in the EU.
