Solution Architect

Description

Senior solution architect role on major transformation programmes, owning solution direction from early discovery through to delivery.

Focus on solutions built around Microsoft Dynamics 365 and how it connects to the wider technology estate.

You will work with business, architecture, product, engineering, delivery and operations teams, turning goals into deliverable solutions and giving engineers clear decisions, principles and guardrails.

Highly visible role where you shape senior-level decisions and bring structure to complex challenges, working with Programme Directors, Business Owners and technology leaders while staying involved through Agile delivery.

Build a Group-wide data capability with strong executive sponsorship, and help ensure trusted, high-quality data supports better decisions, customer outcomes and the company's growing Data and AI ambitions.

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture end to end on large, complex transformation work, from discovery and requirements through governance, engineering handover and delivery.
• Design Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions that integrate with enterprise applications, data platforms, digital channels and legacy systems.
• Shape and embed the company's critical data governance operating model across a large, complex organisation.
• Turn business capabilities and outcomes into architectures covering applications, integration, data, security, resilience, nonfunctional requirements and operations.
• Write Solution Options Papers and High-Level Designs weighing technology, business, commercial, delivery and operational trade-offs, then set direction and guardrails.
• Take solutions through formal governance, including design reviews, Architecture Decision Records and governance boards, answering challenge and driving decisions and actions to completion.
• Work with Product, Engineering and Delivery through Agile delivery, handing over to detailed design and staying involved to resolve issues, risks and dependencies.

Requirements

• Proven record as a Solution Architect on large, complex transformation programmes, owning direction from discovery to delivery.
• Strong Microsoft Dynamics 365 architecture experience, including integration with enterprise platforms, data, digital channels and legacy systems.
• Strong end-to-end design skills across applications, integration, data, security, resilience, operational and nonfunctional requirements.
• Proven ability to write Solution Options Papers and High-Level Designs, weigh difficult trade-offs, and give engineering teams clear recommendations and guardrails.
• Experience working within formal architecture governance and Agile or product-led delivery, evolving architecture iteratively with Product, Engineering and Delivery.
• Senior stakeholder leadership and influence. You work autonomously, handle ambiguity and explain architecture, options and risks clearly up to SteerCo and executive level.
• TOGAF, BCS or another relevant architecture qualification.
• Experience with enterprise architecture modelling tools such as Orbus, Abacus or MEGA.
• Experience architecting customer-facing digital, CRM or customer experience platforms.
