Software Test Engineer - Test Automation

The team is building and validating FactoryTalk Optix, an industrial visualization and HMI platform that customers use to design, deploy, and maintain applications in manufacturing environments.

The role is a Senior Software Test Engineer on an agile team. You will help protect product quality by writing and running manual and automated tests for new and existing features, working closely with product owners, developers, and fellow test engineers. The focus is on building strong test practices, learning the product and industrial automation, and helping customers get a reliable experience.

Responsibilities

• Write, keep up, and run manual and automated tests for FactoryTalk Optix features.
• Check design-time and runtime workflows so customers get a dependable experience.
• Plan and estimate test work, run tests, and triage defects within an Agile team.
• Reproduce defects and log them with clear titles, descriptions, steps, and supporting details.
• Work with developers, product owners, and other testers to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Take part in regression, release, and exploratory testing.
• Help improve test documentation, quality procedures, and test practices over time.
• Use JIRA, QTest, Confluence, GitHub, and Jenkins for testing and quality tracking.
• Build your knowledge of FT Optix and relevant industrial automation concepts over time.
• Work effectively with teams spread across different locations.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required.
• Typically at least 2 years of experience in software testing, software development, test automation, or a related technical role.
• Experience writing, running, and documenting manual or automated test cases.
• Experience building or maintaining automated tests in Python, C, or a similar language.
• Experience with Squish and Selenium test frameworks.
• Experience creating or updating GitHub Actions.
• Experience with C scripting.
• Familiarity with Linux.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, or QTest.
• Exposure to performance, reliability, longevity, or regression testing.
• Experience with industrial automation, HMI software, PLCs, and protocols such as CIP or OP-CUA.

Conditions

Hybrid work: you are expected to be at a company location on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, unless a business obligation takes you out of the office.
