Description

The company makes the company UI (EUI), the design system and React component library used across its products, along with the shared patterns, tokens and tools that keep those products consistent, accessible and high quality.

The Global UX engineering team owns this work. You will lead that team and work with the team's Tech Lead, who sets technical direction and architecture. Your focus is people, roadmap and delivery, in close alignment with Design and Product leadership.

The company describes itself as a search AI company.

The company is distributed and works async first.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop and retain a team of engineers who build and maintain EUI and other shared design system infrastructure across Global UX.
  • Manage performance and career growth for each engineer, including supporting people into more senior roles.
  • Plan the team's delivery: sprint planning, a quarterly roadmap, outcomes and status updates for stakeholders across the company.
  • Represent Global UX in cross-functional planning with engineering, design and product leaders.
  • Negotiate dependencies with other teams, work through organizational friction and raise risks early.
  • Track design system adoption and health, including usage, satisfaction and migration progress, and use these figures to set roadmap priorities.
  • Maintain relationships with teams that consume the design system so their feedback and needs shape the roadmap.
  • Support the team's experiments with AI-assisted design-to-code workflows and developer tools, balancing this work against delivery commitments.
  • Build team culture and health in a fully distributed, async-first environment.

Requirements

  • Previous experience managing engineering teams that build and maintain design systems, component libraries, or other widely used shared UI or platform infrastructure.
  • Experience running delivery planning for a team that serves many internal stakeholders, including sprint planning, quarterly planning, roadmapping and outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of frontend engineering with React, TypeScript and component architecture, enough to weigh technical tradeoffs alongside your Tech Lead and engineers.
  • A record of hiring, developing and retaining engineers and growing them into more senior roles.
  • Strong stakeholder management. You can share roadmaps, tradeoffs and risks with engineering, design and product leaders.
  • A track record of balancing foundational platform work against urgent feature requests from consuming teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, ideally in a distributed, async-first team.
  • Experience using usage, satisfaction and migration data to guide roadmap decisions.
  • A collaborative leadership style that earns your team's trust without you being the most technical person in the room.
  • Interest in how AI is changing design-to-code workflows and developer tooling, and readiness to help a team adopt new practices responsibly.

Conditions

This role pays a base salary only, with no variable pay component.

The typical starting salary range is €61.100 - €96.600 EUR. The final offer within the range depends on factors such as relevant experience, skill level, fit with the role requirements, and the scope and complexity of the position.

Salary ranges are set using external market benchmarks, internal pay equity and the responsibilities of each role.

The company works as a distributed team, with flexible locations and schedules available for many roles.

Export controls apply to the company's technology. If you are located in or are a national of Belarus, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, or the Russian-annexed Ukrainian territories (Crimea, the DNR, the LNR, Kherson or Zaporizhzhia), an export license may be required as a condition of employment. National origin and nationality do not affect eligibility.

The company welcomes applicants with disabilities and will accommodate requests made during the application or hiring process.

Benefits

  • Pay based on the work you do, not your previous salary.
  • Health coverage for you and your family in many locations.
  • A generous number of vacation days each year.
  • Company match of up to $2000 (or local currency equivalent) for financial donations and service.
  • Up to 40 hours each year for volunteer projects.
  • At least 16 weeks of parental leave.
  • The company aims for parity of benefits across regions.
