Software Engineer - Teleoperation Systems

It handles product development end to end, from consulting through full project outsourcing, for clients in aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, commercial vehicles, EVs, rail and other sectors.

You would join the team working on hard engineering problems such as space systems, medical devices and autonomous electric vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Build low-latency teleoperation systems for robots and tune them for speed and dependability.
• Create real-time control and communication links between human operators and robotic hardware.
• Write software for remotely driven arms, mobile robots, humanoids or similar electromechanical platforms.
• Bring VR, AR or other immersive interfaces into teleoperation work.
• Turn operator commands into accurate robot movement through custom software interfaces.
• Raise the responsiveness, reliability and usability of the operator experience.
• Collaborate daily with robotics, perception, controls and hardware engineers.
• Build simulation and test environments for teleoperated systems.
• Diagnose communication, networking, control and latency problems across distributed robots.
• Research and adopt new technology for human-in-the-loop robot operation.

Requirements

• Hold a BS, MS or PhD in computer science, software engineering, robotics, electrical engineering or a closely related technical field.
• Have solid software engineering experience with robotics, real-time systems or distributed control.
• Have built teleoperation or remote-control systems before.
• Be proficient in C++, Python or both.
• Have worked with robot control frameworks and middleware such as ROS or ROS2.
• Understand networking, latency reduction and real-time communication protocols.
• Have integrated robotic manipulators, mobile robots or complex electromechanical systems.
• Know motion control, kinematics and robot control architectures.
• Preferred: experience building teleoperation systems for robotic arms or manipulators.
• Preferred: experience building teleoperation systems for mobile robots.
• Preferred: experience building teleoperation systems for humanoid robots.
• Preferred: experience building teleoperation systems for surgical robots.
• Preferred: experience building teleoperation systems for industrial automation platforms.
• Preferred: experience with VR or AR technology and immersive control interfaces.
• Preferred: knowledge of haptic and force-feedback systems.
• Preferred: experience with simulation tools such as Gazebo, Isaac Sim, Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Preferred: familiarity with video streaming, sensor fusion and real-time perception.
• Preferred: experience tuning systems for ultra-low-latency operation.
• Preferred: background in autonomous systems and human-robot interaction.
