Lead Software Engineer, RTOS-based Automotive Platforms

This Lead Software Engineer leads software and validation work on RTOS-based automotive ECUs, covering board bring-up and debugging across hardware and software. You will manage a team that keeps ECUs running across several hardware generations, guiding them from learning the existing codebase and build pipelines to building hardware validation tests.

Responsibilities

• Get up to speed quickly on the current codebase, build pipeline and regression tests
• Build and maintain the software stack used to verify and validate RTOS-based automotive ECUs
• Bring up boards and verify and debug automotive electronics
• Find and triage faults across software and hardware, working with several teams to close them
• Use build systems, device trees and kernel driver development (essential)
• Explain technical issues clearly to peers, stakeholders, customers, technical leaders and OEMs or ODMs
• Work with architecture, hardware and software teams on debugging and validation
• Mentor and train junior engineers
• Send weekly status, risk and decision reports to program leadership

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, engineering or a related field
• 8+ years of embedded software work on microcontrollers such as Infineon, NXP or ARM
• Working knowledge of FreeRTOS or SafeRTOS: tasks, scheduling, interrupts, synchronization and memory management
• Experience bringing up or configuring at least one RTOS-based platform
• Hands-on skill with embedded debug tools (JTAG/SWD, Lauterbach or similar, in-circuit debuggers, flashing tools) and lab equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, power supplies)
• C/C++ for bare-metal and RTOS work, plus Python or Rust
• Board bring-up and low-level drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, timers, ADC/DAC and external memories
• Automotive diagnostics and flashing using UDS, CAN and automotive Ethernet
• Preferred: platform and BSP development for MCU-based ECUs, covering clocking, device configuration and hardware abstraction layers
• Preferred: experience with hardware components such as sensors and gate drivers
• Preferred: familiarity with the Infineon SDK and toolchain
• Preferred: awareness of ISO 26262 functional safety

Conditions

On-site work, 5 days per week

Salary range: $140,000 - 160,000

Actual pay depends on factors including location and the candidate's knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training and experience
