The role is a lead position for an experienced software engineer who will shape technical direction and guide other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Build moderately to highly complex code in front-end and back-end languages across several platforms, working with business and technology teams on internal and client software.
  • Design and architect complex program specifications for several projects at once, keeping application ecosystems, database design, and cloud infrastructure aligned.
  • Write, change, and build complex code, with unit and integration tests and clear application documentation.
  • Test, validate, and review complex changes across distributed systems.
  • Fix complex code defects, suggest other approaches, and resolve issues on your own.
  • Join and lead client meetings, joint venture talks, and vendor partner discussions to choose solutions and set architecture direction.
  • Support leadership in designing, rolling out, and enforcing application and infrastructure standards, including controls, procedures, and monitoring that keep data compliant and accurate.
  • Apply knowledge of procedures, methods, and standards such as PCI security compliance, cloud security practice, and data governance frameworks.
  • Estimate billable hours and resources for initiatives, projects, and issues.
  • Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers and guide their technical work.
  • Lead code reviews, set coding standards, and push engineering best practices across teams.

Requirements

  • Experience coding, designing, developing, architecting, and analyzing data-intensive applications.
  • Experience with at least one front-end or back-end language or technology, such as Java (JDK 17 through JDK 25), Python, JavaScript, Mainframe COBOL, or Mainframe Assembler.
  • Experience with at least two modern languages or frameworks, such as Python, React.js, or Spring Boot. Candidates with a degree may also use R or Matlab here.
  • Spring Boot microservices work, including RESTful service design, dependency injection, Spring Security, and Spring Data.
  • Experience with APIs and external services, including RESTful APIs and Postman.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including design and familiarity with DDL and DML, in at least one of Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server, IMS, or DB2.
  • AWS cloud infrastructure development, including Lambda, EC2, S3, ECS/EKS, CloudFormation, IAM, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
  • Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration, including DAG development, scheduling, and data pipeline automation.
  • Mainframe knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and VSAM.
  • Experience using GitHub Copilot for AI-assisted development, including prompt engineering, code and test generation, code completion, and Copilot Chat for debugging and documentation.
  • Familiarity with large language models such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, LLaMA, and related AI technology, including how to use them for productivity, code review automation, and intelligent application features.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business or management information systems, or a related field, plus 8 years of progressive work experience in the job or a related position.
