Description

The company runs a digital marketplace that links Fortune 1000 buyers with global manufacturing capacity and gives manufacturers the resources to grow their business.

The team runs an industrial platform where millions of buyers find and source from North American manufacturers and suppliers.

The platform is shifting from a traditional supplier directory to AI-assisted sourcing. This is a senior individual contributor role across several engineering teams, where you will set technical direction for the shared systems and AI infrastructure behind that shift and still write code.

Responsibilities

  • Write and review architecture plans for new projects, then help teams build them.
  • Choose a mix of proven and emerging technologies and methods, including how AI is adopted across the platform, and know when to change course or stick with what works.
  • Mentor engineers across the organization and help them build their skills.
  • Review code and coach others to review code well.
  • Ship reliable, high-quality software that goes beyond customer expectations and meets business deadlines.
  • Work with product managers, designers, and leadership to keep communication open, collaboration strong, and standards high.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including owning outcomes, setting technical direction across teams, mentoring engineers at every level, and shaping product and business decisions.
  • Production-scale full-stack experience. The stack is TypeScript and Node.js backends with GraphQL APIs, React and Next.js frontends, PostgreSQL and analytical data stores, and search such as OpenSearch. Experience in another modern stack is just as valid, and prior use of these exact tools is not required.
  • Hands-on experience building AI products, such as LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, or embedding models. You build with these tools and critically evaluate their output, regardless of framework.
  • Depth in areas the platform is expanding into, such as multimodal (image and text) embeddings and search, agent orchestration frameworks (e.g. LangGraph, LangChain), and model fine-tuning and adaptation, along with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • You learn quickly, take initiative, work fluently in an AI-native development environment, and share what you learn with others.
  • Highly desirable: marketplace or multi-sided platform experience, including an understanding of scaling shared platforms.
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate well with technical and non-technical stakeholders, from junior engineers to executives.

Conditions

Estimated base salary is $176,250 to $182,500 per year, plus an annual bonus. The exact figure depends on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and location. Total compensation includes base pay, bonus, and equity.

Hybrid work arrangement.

The company is an equal opportunity employer and considers all applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability.

Benefits

  • 401(k) match.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance.
  • Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays.
  • Maternity and bonding leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program and other wellbeing resources.
  • A stipend for catered lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Additional benefits beyond these.
