Software Build Engineer

Description

The company is an end-to-end space company that builds rockets, spacecraft and critical subsystems, with the goal of extending human reach to the Moon, Mars and beyond.

The Terrestrial Software team builds and maintains the software behind flight vehicles, spacecraft, launch operations and production.

The role owns how that software is built, tested and delivered, and the pipelines you create directly support hardware that flies.

Your days alternate between digging through build logs and working alongside avionics, operations and production staff to understand what they need.

You will join an experienced team and your work will be used during launches.

Responsibilities

• Build, document and support the CI/CD pipelines for flight vehicle, spacecraft, operations and production software, taking direction from your team lead.
• Support the infrastructure used for stack-test and launch operations.
• Find manual processes and automate them for software teams and other groups.
• Maintain the Docker and Kubernetes environments and work with IT on infrastructure needs.
• Write and maintain software that supports test and mission operations.
• Document work, review code, size tickets and contribute to an agile team.

Requirements

• At least 3 years in software development focused on build, CI and deployment.
• Experience coding in a compiled language such as C or C++.
• Experience with Git and with Linux and Windows system administration.
• Experience with a build system such as TeamCity, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Travis CI or TFS CI.
• Experience with build tools such as make, cmake or automake.
• Experience building and deploying embedded and desktop software.
• Familiarity with Jira, Redmine or another issue tracker.
• Nice to have: a degree in software engineering, computer science or a related field.
• Nice to have: Scrum experience.
• Nice to have: experience with Docker or Kubernetes.
• Nice to have: experience building and deploying web and cloud software.
• Nice to have: network security knowledge.
• Nice to have: project management experience.
• Nice to have: experience with provisioning systems such as Chef, Puppet, Salt or Terraform.
