Description

The company builds autonomous defence platforms and AI-driven software for NATO Allies and partners, designed to run in demanding environments.

The team works under tight constraints, including low-bandwidth networks, air-gapped devices and decisions that must be made in real time. Software is built quickly and goes straight to operators in the field.

The role is a hands-on senior individual contributor position focused on cooperative autonomy for next-generation multi-UAV platforms, taking software from simulation through to field deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Build and integrate real-time cooperative control, decentralized routing and perception algorithms on embedded hardware such as NVIDIA Jetson boards.
  • Design and improve communication networks between agents using ROS2 and DDS so data arrives reliably, even in difficult conditions.
  • Set up and maintain Software-in-the-Loop and Hardware-in-the-Loop test environments to validate swarming features before any physical flight.
  • Work with AI, controls and hardware teams so swarming behaviours fit cleanly with the other onboard subsystems.
  • Profile and debug performance under embedded limits of compute, heat and bandwidth, keeping multi-vehicle deployments stable.
  • Take part in system architecture discussions, focusing on communication reliability, modularity and clean C++ code.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, computer science, aerospace or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience in robotics, aerospace or autonomous systems.
  • Expert-level modern C++ (C++17/20) for low-latency, multi-threaded embedded and robotics work.
  • Deep hands-on knowledge of ROS2 and a solid understanding of DDS for real-time communication.
  • Strong experience with embedded Linux, especially NVIDIA Jetson devices, and hardware interfaces.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, particularly in real-time or resource-constrained settings.
  • Effective communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for field testing and deployment.
  • Fluent English, C1 preferred. German is an advantage but not required.
  • Experience with autonomous swarming algorithms such as flocking, consensus or decentralized task allocation on physical multi-vehicle systems is highly desirable.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and keep the security clearance required for the role. Details follow during recruitment.

Conditions

Occasional travel for field testing and deployment is expected.

Security clearance eligibility is mandatory because of the defence work. Details are shared during the hiring process.

Equal opportunity applies to all genders.

Benefits

  • Your work protects personnel and supports European and national sovereignty.
  • You will collaborate with leading experts in autonomous systems, advanced propulsion and secure cyber platforms.
  • The environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with ideas backed by substantial R&D funding.
