Description

You will help keep the systems behind every bet, search and live odds change stable and available.

The Site Reliability team protects and improves the uptime, speed and resilience of the systems behind the company's global product. The work mixes software engineering, automation and incident response to cut manual work, improve monitoring and raise service health across a large and complex technical estate.

The team uses OpenTelemetry, logging, telemetry and automation to find problems sooner and gain better control of operations. AI tools, LLM platforms and coding assistants are also part of the role, used to work faster, support autonomous operations and gain more insight into systems.

You will work across SRE, development and IT Operations to build reliability into each stage of the software development lifecycle, lead technical projects and share knowledge across the wider engineering community.

The role is eligible for the company's hybrid work from home policy.

The company is one of the largest online gambling businesses in the world, operating since 2000. It was founded by Denise Coates CBE, employs over 10,000 people and serves more than 120 million customers in 26 languages.

In-Play betting is the company's core strength. It features over 1.38 million In-Play sporting events a year, with more than 750 concurrent fixtures at peak and more live sports streamed than any other provider in Europe (750,000). It handles over 6 million HTTP requests a day and processes more than 1.5 million bets an hour at peak.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain resilient tools, operational APIs and automation that make systems easier to manage.
  • Use orchestration and scripts to remove manual tasks, reduce toil and make operations more consistent.
  • Write and contribute code, telemetry and instrumentation that improve reliability and observability.
  • Build dashboards and operational views from Grafana, Splunk, New Relic and related platforms.
  • Configure and manage Cloudflare edge services with Infrastructure as Code, and connect edge telemetry to observability platforms.
  • Investigate incidents from end to end, following problems from the edge through to origin systems, and coordinate the fix.
  • Take part in live incident response, post-mortems and root-cause analysis to stop problems from returning.
  • Maintain and run monitoring, alerting, APM and analytics tools, including PagerDuty workflows.
  • Lead initiatives that improve reliability, observability and performance, and drive continuous improvement across teams.
  • Mentor colleagues, share knowledge and work with IT Operations to deliver tooling that adds business value.

Requirements

  • A software engineering background in Python, Golang, JavaScript or a similar language.
  • Working knowledge of modern development practices, including testing, source control and delivery lifecycles.
  • A solid understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, reliability measurement and incident management.
  • Hands-on experience with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Splunk, New Relic, Grafana or PagerDuty.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting for automation and system management.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform and Ansible.
  • Knowledge of Cloudflare or a comparable edge platform, covering DNS, CDN, WAF, DDoS protection and traffic management.
  • The ability to troubleshoot distributed systems across the edge, network, platform, application, dependency and origin layers.
  • Experience in a large, 24/7 enterprise where uptime, performance and stability are critical.
  • Practical experience using LLM platforms and coding assistants safely to improve productivity, quality and root-cause analysis.

Conditions

The role is eligible for the company's hybrid work from home policy.

The company welcomes everyone and will make adjustments or accommodations to the recruitment process at application or interview on request.
