Description

The company is an online pet retailer with over 25 years in the field and more than 12 million customers. This role grows organic reach for pet owners across its European markets, through classic search engines and increasingly through AI and LLM-based search tools.

You will spot content gaps from search demand, user intent and market trends, using SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) practice. You own each content project and work with internal teams and outside partners to produce accurate, locally relevant content.

This is an individual contributor role. You manage content projects and external partners but have no direct reports.

Within 6-12 months, you should have built a structured content pipeline, delivered new and improved content in priority markets, raised visibility in classic and AI search, set up a repeatable process from research to optimisation, and built working relationships across teams and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Run SEO and GEO content projects on the online shop, from research and briefing through publishing, performance review and tuning.
  • Research keywords, topics and competitors to find content opportunities in each European market.
  • Shape content plans around topic clusters, search volume, intent, pet-care and product trends, and seasonality.
  • Write clear briefs and check that published pages are accurate, on-brand, locally relevant and matched to search intent.
  • Improve existing pages and on-page elements such as titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and structured data, for both classic and AI search.
  • Track content performance, organic reach and visibility in LLM-based search, and turn findings into concrete fixes.
  • Work with SEO, Product and Technology on site structure, page templates and technical needs that affect content.
  • Manage agencies, freelancers and translation partners while working closely with Editorial, Category Management, Brand, Social Media, Video and local market teams.

Requirements

  • At least 2-3 years of hands-on SEO work, ideally in e-commerce, an in-house SEO team or an agency.
  • Solid skill in SEO content strategy, keyword and topic research, briefing and on-page optimisation.
  • A track record of running content projects from first research through to publication and performance review.
  • Hands-on use of SEO tools such as Google Search Console, Ahrefs and Screaming Frog, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with a content management system such as Contentful, WordPress or similar.
  • A working understanding of technical and off-page SEO and how they shape content results.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn performance data into clear optimisation steps.
  • Strong project management and organisation, including experience coordinating agencies, freelancers or content partners.
  • Native or bilingual German or French at C2 level, plus professional written and spoken English.
  • Nice-to-have: practical GEO, AI search or LLM visibility monitoring experience.
  • Nice-to-have: understanding of how LLMs and AI search systems find, assess and cite online content.
  • Nice-to-have: experience in e-commerce or across multiple European markets.
  • Nice-to-have: experience optimising content for YouTube, Instagram or TikTok.
  • Nice-to-have: experience working with localisation or translation partners.
  • Nice-to-have: knowledge of another European language.
  • Nice-to-have: an interest in pets and the pet-care industry.
